Just embrace the team that used to play in New York! We'll take you in, introduce you to the whole gang, and even let you wear the east coast Giants fan hat:

You'll get to watch this Giants team that barely has a rotation fumble their way through the next few months (until MadBum and Cueto return), staying in the division race because Arizona and Colorado crapped away hot starts and the Dodgers have turned into a MASH unit.

Hm... I do love those old black-on-black alts they used to have...

Who's even the favorite right now in the National League?

It is an even year, and the NL West is doing it’s best 2005 impression, so maybe it’s time for the Giants to rise again!

(sees threadbare rotation and defensive woes in the outfield)

It’s definitely the year!

I mean, the 2014 team was probably worse than this team is, so...

Red Sox DFA Hanley Ramirez to make room for Dustin Pedroia.

A bit surprising but it does make sense. Hanley hasn’t been contributing much and his role has basically been usurped by J.D. & Mookie. Also frees up the DH spot for JD while swihart maybe moves to LF.

Still a bit surprised they didn’t try putting him on the trade block though. I’m sure some team would have given up something for him.

Is there any team in baseball with more catastrophically sunken contracts than the Red Sox? It feels like they’re paying half the league insane amounts of money to not play for them. I mean, it must be nice to have that kinda cash to set fire to, but that’s a terribly stupid way to invest your money.

Do the Mets still top them in this regard? I feel like the Sox have been MUCH dumber with their money over the past 20 years, but maybe not.

Sandoval seems like the only really huge bust that they’ve had (owed 94 mil)

they’ve definitely been exuberant with their play roll, but most of the time it seemed to have worked out well enough.

Didn't they also pay like mega, mega bucks for Carl Crawford?

That too, but at least the Dodgers kindly took Crawford off their hands.

Hanley wasn’t nearly a bust on any of those levels, even if he’s prone to bouts of underperforming. I’m not sure about this move at all; on a good day that’s a lot of power to be giving up.

Yeah I think Boston kinda skates by on this one because the Dodgers helped them correct what were probably a few huge mistakes on their part. Crawford wasn’t working out at all for them, Becket was costing them a fortune (I believe) and there were even issues with Adrian Gonzalez fitting in with the culture. They’ve given out a TON of bad money in recent history.

The way the Mets have been blowing late leads, losing games, and everyone of consequence going on the DL makes me curious about how epic the Tnak meltdowns must be.
