Yeah and that’s great, but you also have to remember my sports consciousnesses came about pretty much the very year that Steve Young led the Niners to that last Super Bowl win. In fact, I’m pretty sure my first ever “football memory” was from that game. That era, and the proceeding dark red with a touch of black era, is basically how I see the 49ers in my head. 

 

The Montana era was great, but it was also before my time (So, essentially, I missed all of the fun). Give my millennial head the Niners (last) Super Bowl era dropshadow set any day of the week

 If they actually looked like that, then it would be perfect. Problem is they dont. No 3rd stripe, no striped socks, white shoes etc...

 

They were granted an exception in XXIX, they should be granted one for LIV, as long as they where striped socks to match. When they promoted the throwbacks initially last year they had socks that matched I believe.

They're an evolved version, sharing a lot in common. It's more what I think of when I think "Niners" than anything from 1994-2008.

There should be no exception. Quite frankly, I detest the Niners in drop shadow, because it just reminds of how much of a one-hit-wonder Young was in the playoffs. Outside of 1994, he never got back to the Super Bowl. Then came the Yorks, gaudy uniforms, constant failure, etc. 

 

Don't take this as an offense against Steve Young. He was an amazing QB, he just wasn't Montana.

They could always just switch in the white pants. Either set looks good. If St. Louis was bailed out last year, San Francisco should've been allowed to wear their alternates.

St. Louis LA Rams weren't bailed out. Those were their designated primary home uniforms all season.

Probably the wrong place to post this fact, but I'll make it anyway: Lost in this matchup is the fact that this is the second championship within a decade between Kansas City and San Francisco (2014 World Series, Royals-Giants).
