Wonder what the endzones will be now. Just a 'Washington' wordmark? That is a loooong word to spell out in an endzone. LOL

Take the helmets out of the endzone, I guess.

WFT is wayyyy ahead of you

They could have simply put WASHINGTON in the end zone and it would have looked natural.  Putting the rest there just draws even more attention to the controversy.

How can someone as stupid as Dan Snyder become so rich?  I can't think of another single instance of someone who's bafflingly stupid, to the point where you'd think he has actual poo in his skull instead of a brain, becoming filthy rich and working in Washington.

He was a huge fan of the team as a kid. Everyone has their blindspots and (one of) his was why the team name was a problem.

Seems like such a wasted opportunity when they could have gone with the faux-leather helmet for the entire season

Forget the entire season. Ditch the logos in the sleeves and make that your set. How much more unique could you possibly be than to just have a leather texture helmet? They’re also one of the oldest teams in the league, so it would fit.

I think the idea, though, is to go with something that is clearly a temporary placeholder. You don’t want a uniform fans may want to keep if you’re going through a whole exercise to rebrand the franchise.

No, because a Redskins throwback would be honoring, well, the Redskins -- which is what they're trying to get away from.

Well, I meant as a permanent replacement. After this current placeholder.

That’s a good point that I didn’t really think about. But they could probably do something to honor just the tradition of old timey football in general without specifically honoring the Redskins, I think. That may be cutting it too close, though.

I don’t see much of an issue with a placeholder name as long as it’s intent is to give the rebrand the care it deserves. I’d rather have my team play with a placeholder name for a year than accidentally put out some garbage ass logo that has subtle, unintentional nods to one of the most violent street gangs in the city and be stuck with it for ten more years.

Street gangs? Which one?

I think keeping burgundy and yellow is a good-enough nod to the past.

I honestly don't foresee WFT ever using 1932-2019 throwbacks, assuming they are taking this social awareness rebrand seriously.

They have not worn those helmets since '12. Getting a full team order at this time of year with that hydroskin finish in a scaled back pandemic economy sounds pretty next to impossible. Judging from current news reports, these teams are having a hard enough time figuring out how to hold practices. If there are any uniform mods my guess is they are going to be beholden to local tailoring shops to modify their existing uniforms.
