NFL Changes 2021

Yeah I don’t get the hate for the Jets’ new look. I can certainly see why some would call them amateur but I think the old set was brutally outdated and begging for an update. They could have pulled it off better, but at least the shade of green works.

If the Jets got rid of black and made sure that their pants and socks contrasted they'd have a great set. As it stands, they're good, better than their previous set, but could be much better with a couple tweaks.

If it isn't a "traditional" look, ie a plain green jersey with perhaps a single sleeve stripe and college block font its garbage.

Unless of course you were wearing an overly designed hot mess for a long time before that, then simplifying is bad. Thats the attitude towards football uniforms by a lot of users on this board.

Personally I don't hate the Jets new look either, though I honestly think they should have just taken their old uniforms and brightened the green. Maybe throw in a green helmet too and you've got a great look.

Are the Chiefs dropping the yellow trim on names and numbers? This is probably just a quick and dirty mock-up, but I wouldn’t mind it.

My guess is those are practice jerseys...

Conversely, the all black is probably my favorite of the set and I wish they treated it like a regular one and used it’s elements interchangeably. I wouldn’t mind seeing black socks with the regular green over white or green socks with the black jersey and pants or the black jersey over white pants and black socks.

I firmly believe this and Cincinnati are 1A and 1B on NFL helmet rankings.

It's a lousy helmet because it almost never matches the color of the uniform, and the logo (specifically the football) is bad.  It would look better if it just said JETS without the ball (or just NY.)

I don't get it, it's just a basic wordmark & football. A name like Jets has so much potential when it comes to branding, so the last rebrand was a missed opportunity to inject some life into the logos.

It isn't even the nicest green helmet in the league.

That’s the thing. It’s so simple it’s perfect. Plus, wordmark/script helmet logos are hardly ever done at the pro level anyway.

I’ll take this over the standard “ny” any day-

A few beauties from the college level-

The jerseys aren't great, but this....this is awesome.

I’m with you in the color of the helmet and think the base is fantastic. The new logos are absolute garbage, though. Had they used the original green helmet as an inspiration, I’d be way more sold. As it stands now, they look like placeholders for something better.

They could have come up with a really cool jet logo. It could have set them apart from the rest of the league in a big way. What they have now is very Madden create-a-team. Not bad just generic

I like script helmets when the script is actually a script and when it curves with the helmet. A straight wordmark isn't as good. It'd be better if the helmet included an actual jet and not a football.

The thing is, the Jets can still accomplish a throwback uniform

However, at the same time, the current helmet was a great way to blend two eras together. The above 80s-90s look plus the “classic” look

It fits well within the current identity and a jet doesn’t have to be on the helmet. Much like the prior set.

When you try to blend eras, you usually end up representing neither.  I'm totally fine with just a word, be it JETS, NY, or even NEW YORK.  But the ball ruins it.

You could also argue the attempt at a jet ruins it

I never said anything about a jet so I'm not sure who's arguing that.
