Injuries in game is a common factors associated with team players. if you have some injuries in games, then you should be careful about it and it needs your attention. If ignored, it can cause serious problems. Further more, you must also contact any sports chiropractor in serious cases.

As a Bengals fan I was torn. I wanted a tie so that the Raiders and Chargers would knock the Steelers out but I also wanted a Raiders win because even though Brady is gone I didnt want us to play the Patriots.

Also the Bengals last playoff win came against the Oilers in January 1991. They were eliminated by the then Los Angeles Raiders in the next game.  Hopefully we can end our playoff curse by beating the team that started it.

Because I hate myself, I went ahead and charted the PD position of every Super Bowl participant since the merger...

...I'll add more context to the data once today's games have finished.

Yeah so, I went ahead and charted every Super Bowl including before the merger. Found some more interesting stuff. I have the full data set if anyone is interested. I won't post it here because it's so damn long lmao.

If we ignore conference point differential rankings and go by overall league rankings, only 3 Super Bowls out of the 55 played didn't feature a top 4 team in PD. They were Super Bowl 11 (Washington, Minnesota), Super Bowl 38 (New England, Carolina) and Super Bowl 43 (Pittsburgh and Arizona).

Let me preface this by saying they're obviously can be outliers, but seeing as a top 4 team didn't make it in just 0.05% of all Super Bowls, I can say with just about 100% certainty that one of the Super Bowl teams will be either the Bills, Cowboys, Patriots, or Bucs.

Some "fun" facts. The last time the Bills finished first in the AFC in PD  was 1992 (they were also 1st in 1990 and 1991), and they went to a Super Bowl. The last time the Cowboys finished 2nd overall was in 1995, (they were also 2nd in 1992, 1993, and 1994), and they won the Super Bowl; and the last time they finished 1st in the NFC was in 1978, where that also made a Super Bowl.

As expected, the top 7 teams in the NFC in terms of PD all made the post season. They're ranked by PD (with actual seeding in parenthesis and overall league rank in PD in the second parenthesis):

NFC

1. Dallas (3) --- (2nd overall)

2. Tampa Bay (2) --- (4th)

3. LA Rams (4) --- (6th)

4. Arizona (5) --- (9th)

5. Green Bay (1) --- (10th)

6. Philadelphia (7) --- (13th)

7. San Francisco (6) --- (12th)

And the AFC is completely and utterly bonkers:

AFC

1. Buffalo (3) --- (1st overall)

2. New England (5) --- (3rd)

3. Kansas City (2) --- (5th)

5. Cincinnati (4) --- (8th)

6. Tennessee (1) --- (11th)

13. Las Vegas (5) --- (23rd)

14. Pittsburgh (7) --- (22nd)

Using the historical data I charted, I can make some predictions with a level of confidence. Teams ranked 5th in lower in their conference have such a low chance to make the Super Bowl (with some exceptions here and there), I'd be willing to bet that the Bengals, Titans, Raiders, Steelers, Eagles and 49ers will not make the Super Bowl, however I believe that the Titans will make it to the AFC Championship game.

That leaves the Bills, Patriots and Chiefs as the favorites to go to the Super Bowl in the AFC; and in the NFC, despite Green Bay being 5th in PD, I think it'll be between the Packers and Bucs/Cowboys to go to the Super Bowl from the NFC.

My playoff predictions are as such based on the above (and I'm drinking all the blue and silver kool-aid):

AFC Championship Game

Buffalo over Tennessee

NFC Championship Game

Dallas over Green Bay

Super Bowl 56

Dallas over Buffalo

So basically the teams that win by the most points are really good.  Great work.

I can say with complete certainty that the Superbowl will not be Dallas over Green Bay.

Hey, does point differential still count if all your points come against the NFC east?

I have also done a ton of research, and I've discovered that the Cowboys' coach is, in fact, Mike McCarthy, so...

https://www.dailynorseman.com/2022/1/10/22874387/minnesota-vikings-fire-head-coach-mike-zimmer-general-manager-rick-spielman

Vikings fire both coach Mike Zimmer and GM Rick Spielman.  Zim is no shock, but Spielman is slightly surprising.  In the last few weeks there was talk of Spielman being booted upstairs for a cushy desk job, and to help with the new searches.    Possibly it was offered and he turned it down.

I've always liked Zimmer, and when things were going well he was a awesome in press conferences. But those same personality traits were huge issues when things weren't going well.  It was absolutely time for him to go. There's a quote from him from back before Cousins was signed, something to the effect of he was hoping the new QB would have the kind of contract that would make it possible to keep the rest of the team intact, and if not, Zimmer saw himself probably out of a job.  Quite a prediction, as it turns out.  You can absolutely break down Zimmer's tenure into two eras, pre-Cousins and post-Cousins. Their relationship was at best ambivalent and at worst hostile.  Obviously, Cousins is an anti-vax weirdo (but unlike that greasy douchebag Aaron Rodgers, at least Cousins is an honest one) and the sooner he leaves my team the better, but it was definitely on Zimmer to at try harder to make it work.

Oh, well... as always these things are out of my hands, all I can do is hope for the best.

You know, I could be miffed that Tennessee got the bye, but getting the Steelers might as well be an honorary bye.

Now let's see if they actually do anything with it. Even with King Henry coming back, I just don't know how much faith I have in them, especially after yesterday--and considering, provided I read the bracket right, they play the winner between KC & Pittsburgh (ugh) in the second round, I don't know. The Snatit match up well with KC, but I don't know what it is with them against Pittsburgh; they just seem to fold up and roll over. (Actually, I think I do know what it is, but that's a separate post.)

In other news...I don't know how many daw the Vikings game yesterday, but I'm pretty sure Mike Zimmer knew he was fired before the fourth quarter even began. His ultimate last act to the fans? Ignoring the boo-birds' demands for him to get Justin Jefferson that single-season record. The way dude walked off the field after the last whistle and waved to the crowd, he just looked like he knew his goose was cooked.

And, in somewhat of a surprise, after leading his team to seven straight wins after being left for dead and pulling off a win against a division rival, Brian Flores just got axed by Miami. The early rumor is majority owner Stephen Ross 86'd Flores to go after--you ready for this, @infrared41?--Jim Harbaugh. ("Sources" cite Ross' ties to UM and the fact that he himself is a "Michigan Man"). This after the Dolphins actually finished with a winning record.

(And people wonder how cultures become toxic...usually it's because of stuff like this, and it starts way up at the top.)

I can't stop thinking about how close we were to the tie. It's like Pedro's perfect game that doesn't count because the Expos couldn't score a single run against the Padres and he gave up a hit it in the 10th inning. Just agonizingly, impossibly close to the best outcome possible and we missed it. Also it would've eliminated the Steelers in the funniest way possible, ended the career of the biggest pile of garbage in the last 20 years in the funniest way possible, and it would've been delicious, perfect punishment for the Worst People Alive. I'll never forgive Brandon Staley for that timeout or the Chargers defense giving up 10 yards on an obvious running play.

And I say all that even though the Raiders winning is probably better for me because now they come here instead of Bill Belichick. Also I'm going to the game so really setting myself up for a bummer.

I don't understand the criticism of the timeout.  It was with four seconds left on the playclock and less than 40 left on the game clock. It had zero impact on the actual clock situation.  The Raiders would have run a play with 34 or more seconds left on the clock regardless and, given the Chargers porous run defense, probably would have had the same result.  People are acting like the clock would have run down to zero if not for the timeout.

Letting the clock run down under 40 and taking a timeout was the obvious decision.

I did not have 'Brain Flores Fired' anywhere near my Black Monday prediction sheet. Perhaps the Dolphins already have a replacement in mind? Someone currently residing in the state in Michigan?

Anyhow, yet another Belichick assistant bites the dust ✌️
