Happy that Fickell is coaching my Badgers now...he is gonna do a FANTASTIC job, and I imagine we'll get back to the Rose Bowl within the next three years.

Really wish Cadillac Williams had kept the official job with Auburn...you can tell this is a passion of his, and he was ready to turn things around.

The CFP killing the Rose Bowl would be the final straw for me not giving a damn about college football anymore. Let the Rose Bowl keep its January 1st date, we need to still have at least one tradition left in college football.

I get what you're saying, but I think it lost that once the Rose Bowl was no longer guaranteed to be the Pac 12 Champ v the Big 10 Champ (in whatever numerical configurations for each conference).

If the Green Wave's momentum keeps up for the next season or two, I could honestly see Tulane be a target for expansion-hungry Power Five conferences the way SMU and Memphis are expected to be.

Add all 3 & USF to the Big 12 and call it a day.

UAB:hiring Trent Dilfer

Me: wonders whether @FiddySicksas still not met anyone who bought into his own hype more than Dilfer.

My wife and I vacation in Pajaro Dunes (about ten minutes from Aptos) every once in awhile and almost every time I wear a Bucs cap, somebody mentions him.

I had a soft spot for UAB since well before the program got axed. I'm about to give up on them until Mark Ingram is no longer the AD. Dilfer's hiring is one thing but that absolute :censored: show of a "search" is made even more hilariously bad when you realize he had since June to find a replacement.

Looks like we'll be getting the expanded 12-team CFP in the 2024 season.

Top 4 conference champs get a first round bye.  Team 5-12 play at campus sites in the first round.  The New Years 6 would rotate the quarterfinals and semifinals and the Championship would still remain a neutral site.

Two things that come to mind for me to monitor:

- How will this effect how conference championship games are handled.  Will we see divisions dissolved and take a top 2 structure (like the current Big 12)?  Will conference championship games be eliminated?

- I read this a few months ago when the CFP expansion was announced, but could we see some domes and neutral site games holding first round games?  Of course, campus sites would be preferred but maybe an emergency dome site (Indy, Detroit, Minnesota) could be held in case of major weather concerns.

The SEC has talked about setting up groups of 4 that are forever on each other's schedules, then rotating through the other groups of 4 home/away over a four year term. I think this is what you'll see be applied to the Big Ten as well.  And you'll also see all of them copy the Big 12 with the top records getting the bids to the championship. The AAC does this as well, and the ACC will start doing it next year.

I want to see campus sites for those first round games as long as there isn't a significant event, like the Buffalo/Cleveland game 2 weeks ago. Watching Ohio State play Florida State at Doak Campbell or the Shoe would be much better than playing a first round game in Minnesota because there's too much wind expected.

Seeds 5-8 will host games on campus, with neutral domes available upon school request (if any Big Ten school opts for this, we must shame them until they cry)

As much as Big Ten fans claim that the SEC can't play in the cold, I'd be disappointed if they went with a domed stadium or neutral site.

I'm only saying that the domes should be used in case of the Buffalo snow situation, since now that could come into effect in the north.

Wind should not be a factor.

Exactly! Rain is wet, wind is windy, deal with it. But don't make fans have to drive if the snow is taller than Kareem Abdul Jabbar.

I did see this in the official CFP release.  I guess in case of schools with smaller stadiums (the mid majors) who are close to larger venues (ie. NFL stadiums) you could see other venues.

The first round of the playoff in 2024 will take place the week ending Saturday, December 21, at either the home field of the higher-seeded team or at another site designated by the higher-seeded institution. (No. 12 at No. 5, No. 11 at No. 6, No. 10 at No. 7, and No. 9 at No. 8.) The specific game dates, likely late in that week, will be announced later.

Conference championship games are worth way too much money to be eliminated. I think most will go to divisionalless alignments and have the top 2 play for the championship. This allows a better chance that their top 2 teams remain higher in the polls and more likely to qualify for the CFP, even for the runner-up. The SEC announced they were looking into this when Georgia and Tennessee were the highest ranked SEC schools, but Georgia had already clinched the East (Tennessee subsequently lost to South Carolina, so..). But this would make sure the best teams from each conference are set-up for the CFP rather than the best team and the team that just may happens to win a weaker division playing for the conference title.
