The Chargers had been a navy blue team for most of my life when they started wearing powder blue throwbacks regularly. I didn't throw a fit about them "not looking like the Chargers."

What a strange position.

I became a Bucs fan when I moved to Tampa Bay in 1997, the year they unveiled the red and pewter.  I never followed them in the creamsicles, but I still like both.

Unfortunately, the Oilers throwback game against the Texans is not in Houston.

At this point, you gotta believe Bob McNair has major heat with Amy Adams Strunk.  She’s just rubbing his dick in the dirt here.

EDIT:  *had.  RIP Mr. McNair.

Especially with the Texans allegedly trying to adopt as much of the old Oilers colors for the upcoming new uniform. GIVE US OUR TRUE IDENTITY BACK!!!!!

Why did Modell have to leave the team name and colors behind but Bud Adams didn't?

Modell got hit by a lawsuit which resulted in the "Cleveland Deal" where the Browns ended up as a continuation of the original franchise, that had a period of inactivity,  that retained the branding, uniforms and history and Baltimore (while being made up of the moving Browns team) would be considered an expansion team beginning play in 1996

Bud Adams moved the Oilers because he felt less and less confident in getting a new stadium in Houston.

This isn't totally accurate.  The Browns are considered a continuation of the original team, but with a few "inactive" seasons.  According to the league, the current Browns are not an expansion team.

I think so. I can’t recall any NFL throwbacks prior.

I'm curious...what was the first throwback? Would these have been 1994?

The Jets wore white Broadway Joe era throwbacks for a 1993 game against the Bengals to celebrate the 68 team.  Main difference between these and the version worn in 1994 was they didn't bother with helmet stripes.

Yes. that was my mistake. Read ahead to the Ravens section and got mixed up.

Your current favorite team (and mine) look nothing like they did when we were young kids. Even with that, people still recognize and clamor for the old set. Strange position, indeed.
