Honestly can’t say I’ve seen a single one that was decent.

We haven’t worn these in 7 years but I will die on the hill that they were one of the only ones that looked great in chrome. Probably would have looked like :censored: on our red jerseys but they were perfection on the whites.

I wish the Hogs still used that script and those numbers* on their football unis...but I completely understand (though I don't necessarily agree with) why they changed one l over to uber-traditional.

*Disclaimer: I am not an authoritative expert on stuff...I just do a lot of reading and research and keep in close connect with a bunch of people who are authoritative experts on stuff. 😁

I'm a South Florida fan, and the chrome helmet DOES look bad (specifically the gold one, but the lime green one too.  Fans don't like them either.  Thankfully the gold chrome seems to be out of the rotation as of last season

You can't even see the flame pattern on it.

Not from that angle, but you could from the front and side:

In any case, not sure what these have to do with the discussion of chrome helmets because they were definitely not chrome.

As for fully chrome helmets, the Ducks did it best with their original 2012 Rose Bowl lids. Every chrome helmet that’s come after (including by the Ducks) have just been a pale imitation. Not talking about helmets with chrome/metallic accents or decals, I’m talking specifically about helmets where the shell itself is/was chrome.

One of my issues with chrome is in how it effectively changes the appearance of the color it's supposed to represent.

I have to assume that Arkansas helmets were attempting to use the same shade of red as on the pants and jerseys. But the shininess of the chrome makes it look like a completely different shade, and therefore is a mismatch with the rest of the set.

The Lamar Jackson era Louisville chrome domes were perfection

There has only been two chrome helmets in my opinion that have been perfection and they both come from the Commonwealth of Kentucky.

It’s nice of everyone to drop in pictures of various chrome helmets that “work”… (I’m not even going to dignify the perfection remarks).  Seeing all these terrible helmets scroll by just lets me know my initial assessment was correct.

100% awful.

(IMO of course)

Pretty much all chrome helmets are failures, but silver ones are the worst of all. It’s literally wearing a mirror on your head I don’t see what’s possibly appealing about that.
