since it doesnt appear to have been mentioned earlier around here, in addition to the Giants new alt caps (which will also be worn on Sundays at home with the usual cream jerseys in addition to on Fridays with the beautiful new orange alternate), they will also be sporting striped socks (three orange stripes on black)full time this season.

Oh wow, this could look interesting.

Those striped socks are so "what's up".

Consider me underwhelmed. I think some thin white striping on the tops and bottoms of the orange stripes would go a long way.

Make the feathering cream instead of white, and I'd be with you.

But whether and how the Giants put stripes on their socks really doesn't matter unless the team requires every player to wear a minimum length of visible socks. It's either part of the uniform or it's not, and I'd rather see plain socks on any team where some players will show socks and others will tuck their pants into their shoes.

Crappy. Why not just go right to the Miami Marlins uniforms instead of this stupid nowhereland interregnum? What's the point of downplaying your location for two years before you play it right back up again? The especially stupid part is that at no point have they not been from Miami. I hate the Marlins.

I love 'em. Clean and simple. White stripes would just clutter a gorgeous look.

The stripes seem awfully bold compared to the very thin piping elsewhere on the Giants' uniform. Kinda clashes a little to me. They would've been better off keeping the plain black stockings.

I love the Cardinals' striped socks, though. More Cardinals should wear their socks up.

Maybe just a single solid orange top to the socks would have been better (NFL style, but with black instead of white.)

Okay, so:

According to Uni Watch:

"I?ve seen all the new MLB designs for next season and can report that another team is going to have a powder blue alternate jersey, plus one team is adding a powder blue alt cap."

Friendly speculation on what changes you think we'll see? Who gets the powder blue alt jersey and powder blue cap? After their early May uniform survey, do the Mets have changes on the horizon? Twins redesign (we remember the altered wordmark from the new stadium)? What do you guys think?

My guess:

I could see the Brew Crew being the next in line for a trip down powder blue lane since the throwback Friday alts seem to have been ditched thanks to poor responses from the players (shows what they know!) and I could see the Royals being the team adding the powder blue cap to match the jersey. I kind of wish it could be the Rays, since their navy alt jersey is LAME and they should have gone powder blue for their alt in the first place.

I'm dying for a Mets redesign. I could see them stay the same across the board except exchanging the black alt for a new blue alt. And I think the Twinkies might ditch the pinstripes when they switch wordmarks.

Let the spectulation begin!

The Mets could use a 21st Century Update of their logo, maybe just in time for their 50th Anniversary Season!

The Mets logo is probably the best thing about the entire organization... And there's really very little reason to update it. Maybe the NYC skyline has changed somewhat since the 60s, but it's a timeless logo, really, and it perfectly defines "Mets."
