Well, San Jose just pulled a Carolina. Not a fan. I had high hopes, but they just missed the ball, especially on the home.

The white and black stripes don't add any weight, nor do contrasting shoulder yokes. The stripes are sewn into the jersey, replacing the base layer, rather than on top of it. The shoulder yokes are merely just substituting one color of material for another in a portion of the template. The thin piping does add negligible weight, but they went ahead and left some of that on the sleeves anyway. The heaviest material on the jersey is tackle-twill, and it's still there unnecessarily on the front. Plus, there's the added weight of the metal grommets from the lace-up neck, the lace, and the additional layer of material behind the lace-up area.

All of which is to say: Bull :censored: , San Jose.

For all the bird de lis haters I think the bird de lis isnt supposed to be a pelican and a fleur de lis I think its just a fleur de lis with a pelicans head. Thats what it looks like to me. Also the flair around the tip of the beak is just flair that fleur de lis have sometimes source I am from NOLA.

I actually like the no waist piping, but it should have been revamped with something else, just not sure what at the moment.

Look, I know that taste in uniforms is completely subjective, but I just don't get how people like/don't mind the absence of hem stripes. They're such a fundamental part of hockey uniforms and I can't think of any uniform that would look without them.

Totally agree. It would be akin to a baseball team wearing a jersey without a belt or untucked.

This is kind of like the white-in-the-sun thing with football: at the pinnacle of your profession, one which requires you to basically wear a suit of armor, you have no business attributing outcomes to the properties of fabric. Hem Stripe Slowness makes the Scheduling Loss sound well-reasoned.

♫ oh yeah, board goes on, long after the thrill of postin' is gone ♫

I'd actually say that the dark color on hot days thing has a ton more merit than the idea that stripes slow you down.

Obviously it's not a physical weight issue thing with the old jerseys, its just a mental thing. With more panels and stitching etc, it subconciously makes you feel like it's heavier and that can impact the way you play as a team. Stop taking it so literal and read a pshycology book or something lol.

I hope there's a really smartass reporter in San Jose somewhere:

"How many extra points do you think these new, faster jerseys will mean for the team?"

After a bad loss:

"The team looked pretty sluggish out there tonight, coach. Have you considered dropping any additional uniform elements? Short sleeves?"

The lack of striping at the bottom looks crappy.

The failed attempt at removing most orange looks messy now, I liked the orange and thought it was great in the color scheme.

They really should have used the fin logo somewhere. Even if on the pants. The full body shark logo is cool, they have a great logo set, but they have a full body logo on the pants. Switch it out for the fin. And I like the fin alone logo, not the SJ and smaller fin like they did on the black jerseys. That really looked worse than the previous black jersey.

Oh gawd, look at Terry Smith's(San Jose Sharks primary designer) work. He's a terrible designer. Even his website looks like trash http://www.terrysmithcreations.com/

You're right. Most of his logos feel like they could have came straight out of the concept section.

The guy's cyber/ sting rays logos look an awful lot like the Hull Sting Rays of the British Elite Ice Hockey League... Unless Hull copied his...

Not surprising considering he's never been able to render a hockey stick properly

A designer has tendencies toward a certain style? The hell, you say! Where's my pitchfork?
