As best as I can remember, Oregon State rebranded right around the same time, as Michigan State, or shortly thereafter, a few years back, and at the time Nike was on some kind of weird bronze kick. They added it to Michigan State's identity and later to Oregon State's (although I believe Michigan State has since stopped using the bronze.) On it's own, black, orange (at least their particular shade), and bronze/gold can look good together (see Giants, San Francisco). It just hasn't worked for Oregon State for whatever reason. Looks like a team of Bumblebees (the transformer, not an actual bee). It wouldnt stand the test of time but, for one game, I don't mind this. Well when I first became a Mizzou fan, they were already in their Brad Smith piping nike uniforms that had old gold on the helmet and athletic gold on the jersey. Didn't really bother me.
