How does no MLB team use a royal-and-yellow color scheme FULL TIME ? It's great, and it's slightly unfathomable that no one claims it. Brewers????

With all this love for the old M's designs, I wanted to post a hat I picked up from Hat Club a few months back (the trident is silver if it doesn't come across that way). I've wanted for years the M's to have an all navy hat with a silver trident (without the star) and a northwest green outline as an alternate, so when this came up I had to snag it. I wish there was a way to combine the older identity with the new (ok 22 year old) colors. I may be biased as a Seattle fan, but I find the current color scheme still fresh and unique.

You own this hat? I'd commit heinous crimes for it.

Yeah, Hat Club got them around November and that style went very quickly. They also did the 88-92 "S" hat in navy with silver and northwest green which I thought was cool but didn't pick up. I like how they have tonal NE flags on the side but wish they had the mlb batterman. I started following baseball about 92 or 93 so I only remember the batterman and hats look weird to me without it. For being a southwest based company with no PNW locations, they have done a lot of M's hats which makes me happy.

Every team should wear navy or black alternate jerseys half the time and then wear camouflage or stars and stripes the other half. Final word. End of discussion.

As for the batterman scenario. These caps are better off without a batterman due to New Era's stupid rules on the Cooperstown batterman. New Era forces the double boxed square batterman on logo's they deem to be Cooperstown logo's. If you havent seen it......It's hideous beyond explaination to me.

This is the square double boxed batterman and would have more than likely ended up on these Seattle caps.

As a hat guy I cringe everytime I see a batterman like this.

That batterman logo is so weird. It's not quite different enough to be noticed by 98 percent of the public (so it's failing to do what it's intended to do), but to the other 2 percent of the population (i.e. the fine, eagle-eyed folks on this board), it's hideous and anger-inducing.

Cleveland will be using the darker shade of navy for all their caps now, as opposed to the lighter shade for the home cap and darker shade for the road cap. Chief Wahoo remains the same size on the home cap.

It's good to hear the Indians are going back to the darker navy. The lighter navy looks bad when paired with red, for some reason. It's decent on the Brewers and Rays, but it always looked wrong for the Indians.

Mind. Blown! Well that explains the influx of M's hats on their site. I hope this means more customs especially of the old identity with new colors. I feel like up to the summer they only had the authentic, tbtc and maybe one other hat when you looked at the Mariners tab. Any idea if that store is new?

I agree on the double boxed batterman, I hate that. One of the things I love about HC is the attention to detail. They work hard to get hats US made poly and I've been surprised at their ability to get the current raised, rounded batterman on hats. I have a Giants hat that they did that is based off the old big mesh BP hats from the late 90s and it has the newer style raised batterman. I also saw a great Red Sox state of Massachusetts chin logo from back in the day that had the new style batterman which I was surprised by. Excited to see what else the come out with, and intrigued by this new alt M's hat that was the topic of conversation at one point.

That HatClub store in Southcenter is absolutely new. I worked down at SouthCenter a bit last summer and I would've known if it was there.

Safeco field will be the first MLB stadium to install LED lights

Hopefully they'll be just as bright as the lights they had before. I would hate it if they ended up being dark and dreary like the new lights at Staples Center.

I've been complaining about this for years (including several times on this forum -- my apologies!). The lighter shade has looked awful since it first went into effect in 2003, and it became even worse when they introduced the block C with the classic dark navy.

I just wish more teams used brighter colors. Royal Blue, Yellow, kelly green, orange, etc.

M's going 3-layers on names, wordmark, and numbers for home and away. Plus Rays-esque striped stirrups. The alternate is a cream-based, color-swapped home. All seems unnecessary.
