Cosmic
The whole patch is a mess, just like their logo and their franchise.I don't get the point of comments like this. Yeah, you can dislike the patch, but there are about 20 franchises in the league right now who would gladly swap their histories with the Islanders. Not to mention the team was just sold to some pretty wealthy individuals and they're moving into the newest (and most profitable) building in the league next season, in the most popular borough of the biggest city on the continent. Calling the Islanders franchise a "mess" right now is about as ill-informed as it gets, and is a lazy trope that's brought out every year by hacks in the Canadian hockey media. We get it; they won the Stanley Cup... 30 years ago. The Kenora Thistles also have more Stanley Cup wins than my team. It doesn't mean the Kenora franchise is in great shape today. Midway
The new Blues are a straight "fix", which is rare in the big 4.
spartacat_12
Great update for the Blues. They have moved back into the top 5, as far as uniforms are concerned. With that being said, I'm in the camp who don't like the inconsistency between the yoke striping and the sleeve/hem striping. At first glance I didn't like the dominance of navy at the bottom of the sleeves/hem on the away, but it does do a good job of blending the curved hem in with the pants. As well, I preferred the previous C/A patches, the serifs added a touch of class. I also wouldn't mind if the letters overlapped with the yoke a little bit. Squeezing them between the bluenote and the yoke looks a little cluttered. Minor nitpicks aside, it's nice to see the Blues in uniforms as nice as their great logo again. daniel75
Absolutely hate the blues yoke design, that being said they're still an improvement.
Sport
They look great. There's some striping inconsistencies that will probably bother me eventually, but I'm willing to forgive them for right now because they're such an upgrade over the 2007* monsters. *I can't believe it's been 7 years since the Edge rollout. FiddySicks
I actually liked the piped out jerseys St. Louis had, these aren't bad though.See, that's how I feel. Everyone seemed to really hate them, but they were pretty much the only edge jerseys I kinda liked. They made the navy blue and royal blue flow really nicely together. Even the weird cutout on the back for the RBK logo I kinda enjoyed. These new jerseys aren't bad at all. In fact, they're quite nice. I still feel totally meh about them. They actually make the two blues look kinda washed out and dull. They're SO similar to the pre edge sweaters, which were great. But I can't quite put my finger on why I find this set so underwhelming. I dunno. I have to see them a few more times I guess. I'm not a Candian media hack...or at least not from Canada...and the Islanders are a mess. Have you seen the financial terms of the deal the Islanders struck with Barclay's Center (the smallest arena in the NHL)? Barclay's Center get all arena-related revenues (tickets, concessions, merchandise, suites sales), minus $40-$50M per season paid to the Isles. The Islanders don't get a share of any non-sporting events. And you really think Barclay's is the most profitable...?? Have you actually done research on it? Did you only read the one article about the arena's revenues and think "Huh, revenues must be exactly the same as profits"? Coast2CoastAM2006
Here are some stills of Oshie and Pietrangelo wearing them:They look stellar. The socks especially look superb!Actually, you know what my favorite part about these jerseys are? The fact that the bottom of the hem is completely navy, blending in with the pants. No longer is there that awkward curve of the jerseys that Reebok has "blessed" us with. The illusion of the good old flat CCM jerseys is now here. Finally they go back to being a top five team in design. For the first time in a while, I feel good about the direction of design in the NHL. Spoilers! Phils Phan
It's amazing. There's nothing groundbreaking about the Blues changes, seemingly anyone could have fixed the design like this, but seeing a team just fix their broken identity instead if scratching it completely is extremely refreshing in this day and age. Phillies, Bears, and new NYFC fan.

Hope they never change these again...
BrianLion
My only complaint is that I wish the socks had some dark blue to match the jersey stripes.Socks are viewed as one entity (lower body) with the breezers. Being that the breezers are navy, I don't it's necessary to also have it on the socks. Well done, Blues. R.I.P. apron strings.9.5/

tigerslionspistonshabs
Personally, I had the Blues at 26th, ranking only ahead of Ottawa, Pittsburgh, Colorado and Calgary (which could be a toss up). Now, I'm putting them at 6th, behind only Chicago, Boston, Montreal, Detroit and the Rangers. Quite possibly the biggest leap of all time, but Dallas to me last year went from 30th to 10th, which is also a 20 spot jump.
TheOldRoman
These are very good, but I wouldn't put them close to the top five. There are just too many glaring things which bug me. The shoulder stripes, as everyone has mentioned. Also, it looks like the blue socks have a navy stripe between yellow and white, where as that stripe is royal blue on the jersey. I also don't like how the shoulders on the white jersey are royal, but the bottom of the jersey and sleeves are navy. I know it was that way on the last good set, but it could have and should have been fixed. To me, even with the numbers and logos, the white jersey makes it look like navy is their primary color. I also would have liked to see the pants be royal blue, particularly if they were sticking with making the bottom of both jerseys navy. There is exactly one element of this set which I'd call perfect, and it's the white socks. Overall, I'd give it a 8.5/10.
