I think it's pretty unanimous around here that the "Pac-Man" logo is vastly superior to the full-winged Hawk they were using since the '90s. It has so much history to Atlanta, and the work on it is minimalistic. But the best kind, just enough so you can visually make out the target, but not enough to befuddle it up. So does that mean, that since the Bulls logo can be flipped and seen as a robot reading a book that, that also makes it a bad logo? People will find an image from anything. The Hawks just did the cool thing and embraced it. It's The Pac-Hawk now and forevermore. It's not hard to tell what it should be, it's just fun to say, "Hey it also looks like this!". The full winged bird was a thing of beauty, and the hawk head was pretty solid as well. That being said, the Pac Hawk logo stomps on those other logos. It's so simple yet so so SO effective. Switching back to the pac-man identity probably has less to do with whether the pac-man logo is better or worse than the full-bodied hawk, and more to do with nostalgia (retro never goes out of style) and the fact that pac-man was a really strong identity in its simplicity. It looks good anywhere, big or small, and people have always loved it. The Sixers, Warriors, Jazz, and possibly the Pistons are others that have gone back to their original look or colors (although in some cases it was just as much about ridding themselves of over-the-top 90's designs and going back was an easy decision).Bringing this thing full circle back to the Raptors, just like those teams above returned to their old 60's, 70's, or 80's looks, I think it will be nice if in 10 years the Raptors realize that this new identity is very weak and that the original 90's dribbling dino will always be their strongest look and return to it or some variation of it.
