I’ve been hearing they’ll be going to the Veterans Memorial Colosseum for a couple years while they negotiate with Tempe for a new arena is built. I really don’t think they’ll ever leave.

Is that venue even feasible?

Pretty tough to negotiate a real estate deal when you are essentially homeless.

After the mess the Islanders went through for the past 5-10 years I'm not sure the league wants another team playing in a temporary home not fit for hockey while they buy time on getting a new arena built.

Time to bring back the Nordiques!

Seriously though, they'll be on the east side of Phoenix for sure. May have to play in a substandard venue for a year or two, but they'll get something done on the east side.

I don’t see the league ever letting them.

The earliest that the Tempe arena will be ready from what I'm reading, based on site contamination issues, will be 2027 (and that's with the assumption that someone bites at Tempe's RFP and bankrolls the whole damn thing) .  So, the Coyotes are supposed to play five seasons in a 60-year old arena that fits 1,500 less fans than Winnipeg, has no luxury boxes or modern amenities, and has a permanent leaky roof from some genius lighting a giant birthday candle on it, all while the team's already essentially bankrupt.

Lol, no. Absolutely not. Even temporarily.

I’m not defending the Coyotes in anyway. But Veterans Memorial is built for hockey and basketball. Soot is feasible that they play a couple years there

It’s really REALLY not. For a state fair venue, it’s actually pretty well kept up, but it’s still a state fair venue, which are almost universally known as facilities that are dingy, used to the maximum and run into the ground, and about as bare bones as can be. I’ve seen the “guts” of that place too, and it’s not pretty. Trying to play even a season there would be a huge stretch. Knowing how this whole thing has gone? Yikes. It could be a decade before they get a new facility.

Oh what a joyous occasion, the NHL anti-thread returning to where it all began.

Glendale City Council Watch Party, anyone?

Hey now! I'm sure the kachina gear's gonna fill those coffers up in no time 😜

For some people, even here, that would be preferable to letting Canada have another team. Périsse la pensée!

I have actually been to the Arizona State Fair during a trip to Phoenix about 10 years ago. I had no idea it was in October. So my family went to it. The facilities at the time did look like they were from a bygone era, including the VMC.  The VMC probably would not even be a suitable AHL venue these days.

I saw, I came, I left.

Some folks would buy stool samples if they had the kachina logo/pattern on the jar. I’m not naming names…

Players' stool samples?  Back in the day, I'd've paid a pretty penny for a logoed mason jar of Eric Desjardin's stool.
