2015 CFL Uniforms

Strangely enough, the REDBLACKS wore their alternate pants with the home jersey for Sunday's East Final:

The pants don't mesh with the jerseys as well as the usual homes do, but anything that gets more plaid into the set is a good thing. I wouldn't be surprised to see plaid striping incorporated into all three uniforms with the switchover to Adidas. It's become a huge part of the team's brand, and helps distinguish them from the Stamps.

As far as logos are concerned, I think every team in the CFL has just about got it. Maybe a slight update to BC, but it isn't necessary. They're all great.

The uniforms, however? Calgary, Saskatchewan, Montreal, Ottawa, and Winnipeg need changes yesterday. And Edmonton needs to change the road (no more yoke, panels, or green helmet).

I wonder if any team will get a new logo?

CFL currently has some pretty solid marks for their teams. Do you think any of the teams need a new logo?

Montreal's logo is horrible (as is the similar one before it) and I don't know why anyone defends it:

Their whole current identity needs to be nuked. Update/pull from the past identities or go back to the drawing board.

I feel like BC and Calgary could use modernizations of their logos. They just look a bit high school-quality at the moment.

Edmonton might be able to use a more sharpened look for their logo; if not, they just need to make sure it's bigger on the helmets. And I don't know much about Winnipeg's visual history, but using a block W as a primary logo for a professional sports team is pretty bush league.

The CFL had an "Ask the Commish" webcast earlier today, and I asked whether there will be any changes to the uniforms (with the switch to Adidas). Commissioner Orridge told us that such changes will be up to the individual teams; and they are working on said changes as of the time I am typing this.

(Although I know the Blue Bombers will be going back to their classic color scheme.)

Agreed. Montreal just needs to go with something cleaner and BC could use a modernization. Calgary has needed a new logo for decades. They just use a SMU ripoff.

I remember a news article from a few years' back in which the Stamps had come to an agreement with Ford over the use of the logo, which would imply Ford owns the copyright. I could be remembering it wrong though.

Also, I very much agree with seattle's opinion on the Alouettes identity.

Reminds me of the Beer Store's new logo. Crappy, trendy trash. Why a league with as much history and tradition as the CFL tries so hard to be "kewl" is beyond me. Yes yes "younger fans", but let's be real -- people don't hate the CFL because it's followed by mostly 30-50 year-olds, they hate it because of the (perceived) inferiority complex. Dressing up your teams like college disasters doesn't help that, it just makes it worse.
