Meh, there's not a thing here really.  Not like Durant leaving the 2nd best roster to join arguably the best.

Wade doesn't owe anything else for the Heat, he'll always be their g.o.a.t.  While he may not remain with them, signing with the Bulls is a nice nod.

I dunno. My initial knee-jerk was "wtf?" But the more I think about it, the more I think I get it. Ultimately, neither the Heat nor the Bulls are going to be winning a Title anytime soon, and certainly not before Wade retires. Wade gets to go home. Good for him. And for the Bulls, yeah, Wade's old. But he's still probably a box office draw, he'll sell merch, and to make room for his salary, they shipped out Mike Dunleavy and Jose Calderon – two guys who aren't exactly part of any rebuilding effort anyway. If he can bring that legendary Pat Riley/Miami Heat way-of-working to the Bulls like LeBron brought back to Cleveland, it might good for Butler in the long run.

Gonna be really strange to see D Wade play with someone other than the Heat. He's pretty much the face of that franchise.

Part of me woulda liked to see Wade play his entire career as a (whatever you call a member of the Heat).  But, hey, more photos for the Players in the Wrong Uniform thread!

Any Miami fan who decides to dislike Wade over this really needs a life.  He won three titles, sacrificed a lot of pay to do so, and was the all-time face of the franchise.  They have the right to be disappointed that he won't finish his career there, but I'd take anyone to play with my team for 13 years and win three titles and then finish up elsewhere.

Disclaimer: If this comment is about an NBA uniform from 2017-2018 or later, do not constitute a lack of acknowledgement of the corporate logo to mean anything other than "the corporate logo is terrible and makes the uniform significantly worse."

It's gotta be him, right? Who else could it be? Alonzo Mourning? Pat Riley?

Definitely Wade, but it was Mourning until about 2010 or so.

You can't feel bad for a guy who won three titles, but outside of that 2006 championship, it's always felt like Dwyane Wade has been one of the quietest superstars in the league. He's been really good for a long time, but it feels like he's done so quietly.

I don't know how that team will actually play games -- Rondo, Butler and Wade? -- but it will at least be interesting to watch.

Bulls are such a sham.  They lie about dealing Rose, saying they want to get younger and start a process of gentle rebuilding, but then they get the chance to sign a pair of 2010 All-Stars, and woo-doggies, we got another ALL-IN, baby!

I hope they lose 70 games.

To be fair I doubt they expected wade to be serious about leaving

No but I think it may be important to Wade to retire a member of the Heat. He seems like the kind of guy that will always be respected by the organization but wants to end his career on a positive note.

If you're going to leave the team you've spent your whole career with then going back to your hometown isn't a bad move.

I was rooting for Milwaukee, though, just because no big free agent ever signs with the Bucks and the Marquette connection.

From what I've seen, Heat fans are angrier at Riley than Wade. Wade's taking some heat (no pun intended) for demanding to be overpaid for past performance, but the majority of the blame is being put on Riley and his ego.

Lots of soap boxes around these parts. Gosh. I wonder who has the tallest.

You're starting to turn into the NorCal dbadefense. Please don't be the new dbad. I was happier when my fellow Bay Area fans didn't emulate that weirdo's behavior. The less said about the guy with the Brick avatar the better.

I'm not super sold on the Durant signing. While I think it can really help the team, it does seem like such an overreaction on both the part of the Warriors and Durant.

Durant could have simply signed that one-year deal and tried to make it work in OKC, or he could have been "the guy" and put a borderline team over the top. Instead, he goes defcon five and joins the Warriors. I honestly don't think the Warriors really needed him either. They could have signed a couple of veterans to phase out Bogut, Barnes, and Ezeli (something I would've been more comfortable doing, even with the cap going up), but instead they decide to go all-in on Durant. This will only end dramatically, even if they win a title. I'm glad the Warriors are finally in the position to make this signing, but the skeptic in me is thinking about all of the crap that could go down.

Part of me is also missing the sad-sack "Fiel Pero Desdichado" (I had to borrow that motto, Ice_Cap) Warriors of old. There were less of us, we all had a sense of humor about our fandom, and we relished the little things (i.e. the underrated play of Jason Richardson and Monta Ellis, "We Believe," and making the playoffs in consecutive years as a seed higher than eight). The championship in 2015 was downright glorious, but I felt something was lost after that. The bandwagoners came, and the constant high expectations followed. NBA bandwagoners brought their reactionary goofballery to the Warriors, replacing that "Fiel Pero Desdichado" sensibility with "championship or bust" bravado. My old Warriors fan friends from high school and college (there were many Bay Area kids at my Portland college) have thankfully not turned totally insufferable, but we see this nastiness coming from the new "fans" who only recently hung up their Kobe and Nash jerseys. I know I'm going to sound like such a bleeping hipster when I say this, but I miss the crummy Warriors.

The Warriors are a bit of an exaggeration of this because of the circumstances and the 73 win season, but that's sort of the natural progression with teams when they finally win a title and have sustained success. Red Sox, Patriots (especially), Black Hawks, Seahawks, Cavs, Heat, ect. And just look across the Bay from the Warriors at the Giants and how their recent titles have built up their numbers. It wasn't quite the explosion the Warriors have been, and really began somewhat more gradually with the opening of AT&T Park, but that's just kinda how it goes. It's one of the, sometimes not so wonderful, side effects of success.

For me, you can replace the Warriors with the Seahawks. I miss the days of when the Seahawks were basically unknown by most NFL fans.
