They just can’t use that two-jersey rule to have their cake and eat it too. No... I mean a real two jersey rule. One color, one white, that's it.
tBBP 2,578 Posted March 27, 2019 I'm thinking...if the NFL is so dead-set on this one-helmet thing, and the Eagles really do wanna do a Kelly green throwback, there may be a way around the one-helmet rule--but it'll involve a (maybe light) rebrand. The Eagles have worn white helmets before in their history, and have also had silver wings on green helmets at one point. Perhaps if they were to update their current uniforms with either white or silver helmet/pants and just switch out the colors (and/or decals) of the wings, they'd have the flexibility to wear their regular midnight green plus go Kelly for throwback games. Just a thought.

Im not sure if this is the actual NFL policy, or just the interpretation of the writer. We kind of know that though...the Rams switched between white and yellow decals the last few years.

Broncos, Chargers, and Giants switch out decals for Color Rush as well. Falcons and 49ers switch out decals for throwbacks. And the Rams switched between metallic gold and athletic gold too. One is an exception, two or more is a pretty standard policy.
VikWings 1,626 Posted March 28, 2019 Hopefully they win this battle. Nothing wrong with limiting the 2nd helmet to throwbacks only like they did before. No one's asking for teams to become Oregon. I don't considered the Eagles in kelly green, Bucs in creamsicle, etc, throwbacks once or twice a year as muddling their brand. At least not any more than any other 3rd jersey or even alternate pants option. Definitely not any more than the color rush abominations that have been trotted out the last 3 years.
debo0775 75 Posted March 28, 2019 I can’t remember where I saw this, but there’s a company making a plastic cover/skin for helmets that can be applied quickly for low-cost, one-helmet color changes: https://www.gamedayskinz.com/ I’m curious if this might be a way for the NFL to avoid lawsuits but also provide for multiple shells. Personally, I hate the idea of multiple shells except for a true throwback event (say the Bills throwing back to one of their Super Bowl loss seasons...). But to commemorate certain events and eras in restrained fashion? Sure.

The foot in the door is always just the beginning. And don't kid yourself... There's a lot of people that would love to see the NFL follow the Oregon blueprint.
BBTV 20,231 Posted March 28, 2019 This is not news. Until someone official says they’re doing a full overhaul, it’s nothing to talk about. No different than what they’ve said a hundred times before. Ive long suggested that a silver helmet with solid green wings would be good, and pair well with silver pants and allow for color changes (black wings to go with black jerseys, etc) is they choose to (I’m not in favor of alts, but it’s a fact of life so not woRth arguing about.)
AgentColon2 2,520 Posted March 28, 2019 The Eagles can easily resolve this. Dump the midnight green and switch to kelly permanently.
hawk36 3,353 Posted March 28, 2019 As the Rams have shown, the Eagles could use the midnight green helmets with kelly jerseys. Maybe just add the midnight green outlines to the white numerals and it would actually look good.

Fresno St. Alum 270 Posted March 28, 2019 why can't they just spray paint the helmets for the kelly green gm. Don't they spray them every wk after they get scared up. And lol that it's okay for the 18-23 yr olds to use 2,3,4 helmets but the grown men can only use 1 for safety reasons. Just fit them all for 2 helmets during training camp.

You conveniently cut out what I said after, which is that I like midnight green better anyway (and I prefer the Jets in kelly green). Of course it’s fine if teams share color schemes, but if the (of course, in my opinion) best look for two teams features two different color schemes, they should stay separated.
