Also seems to ignore the Coyotes' 30th, which would fall on 2025-26.

Or would the 30th fall on 26-27, since the 20th was in 16-17?

The Coyotes really f’ed up the math...

I like it...but this is irritating because the Avs should have a 25th anniversary logo patch (since '95-96), but the Coyotes are going with a 25 seasons patch (though they call it years, it's lazily inaccurate), and one season wasn't played...so thus the Coyotes history of '96-97 - '20-21 is literally 24 years and 24 seasons.

Nope, bad math on your part. Need to count the first year. To make it simple, a team that started in 2000 would celebrate their 10th season/year in 2009.

If the league skips a season, which it did, then 10 years and 10 seasons would be 2010.

This will be the 24th season of games played for the Coyotes.

It’s odd the Coyotes’ 25th patch in 20-21 is four years after their 20th patch in 16-17.

I always have this conversation with my dad pretty much every time a team anniversary happens, especially in the NHL because of the lockout and the fact seasons take place in two different years, and I never truly grasp the math. (Like I am 24 years old but I am in my 25th year of life because I wasn't born at age 1, I was born 0 and was 0 in my first year of life and then turned 1 when I was entering my second year of life, right?)

Are teams doing years in existence? Are teams doing seasons played? Are they matching up the season years to the calendar years? I never get it.

Like this upcoming season, the Jackets and the Wild are doing their 20th anniversary by going from the beginning of 2000-01 season to the 2020-21 season, so 20 years. But the 2020-21 season will be both their 21st years in in existence, but both their 20th seasons played because of the lockout. But then the Jets are doing their 10th going from the beginning of 2011-12 season to the second half of the 2020-21 season, so this upcoming season will be their 10th played, but 9 years.

Or how the Avs and the Coyotes are both doing their 25th anniversaries in the same year, despite the fact they started in different seasons and despite the fact they fact different 20th anniversary years. The Avs started in 1995-96 and the Coyotes in 1996-97, with the Avs doing their 20th for the 2015-16 season (with the Wild's 15th and the Jets 5th, so that math makes sense), but the Coyotes did their 20th the season after in 2016-17.

Yes.  The jersey will be completely blank.  The logo will be be drawn on with a sharpie and the numbers will be duct tape.  Imagine how much lighter the jerseys will be next year.  Old man Thorton will be flying down the ice like he was Connor McDavid.

I forgot he got rid of his beard, too.  If he still doesn't have it when the season starts, I'd bet he'd be able to set new records for goals and points in a single game.  I think he's capable of getting 8 goals and 11 points.

With Ottawa and Calgary changing unis, the NHL really doesn't have a bad set in the lot anymore, at least in terms of primary home/away. The only one that comes to mind is Washington, but with Ovi and winning a Cup, their uniforms really don't bother me

Anaheim, LA and SJ all come to mind pretty quickly for me. The Ducks need to embrace the Mighty, LA needs to scrap their Reebok holdovers and go for the 90's set with the crown logo on the front, ala the Sens and Flames, and San Jose needs to fix their damned striping already.

I saw this on Fanatics and thought if the Panthers had these stripes on the bottom of the torso and the sleeves, it'd be a huge upgrade over the non-wrapped-around white and gold stripes.

I would say only San Jose and Tampa Bay should also switch to retro

Never understood the affinity for any of Tampa's old unis. The jerseys they won the 04 Cup in are just terrible

They looked great in person. Decent crest (and no silly unbalanced oval) and cool shoulder patches (though the updated shoulder patch in ‘07 was better).

The Lightning's black sweaters are one of my favourite black sweaters. The white shoulder yokes gave them uniqueness and distinctiveness. I'm glad they ditched their original font and went with block font at the time.

Well the color scheme and all gave them uniqueness, unlike their blue red wings ripoff now. It wasn't the best jersey in the league, but at least it was unique

What I think most of us agree about is that the unique black and blue color scheme for TB needs to return.

I've seen many concepts where black is featured more prominently on the current uniforms. But if I'm going to be honest, many times it doesn't work.

Now I do believe that black and blue can work nicely on a Lightning jersey. It can be done imo, but it depends on how they're used and how much of each color.

Tampa could have just taken the blue Bolts alternate, take away the extra fluff, and put on a proper logo, and called it a day.

I always thought that this Senators concept could have easily worked for Tampa.  Maybe Ottawa should have used it.

They would need to lighten the blue to how it was on the inaugural set. I don't think it worked as well with a darkened blue.

Another observation on VGK:

I always laugh at the whole "THAT'S SO VEGAS!" concept being an excuse to throw in as many cliché gambling references as possible.  In a way, it's basing your branding more off of aged Downtown then the modern Strip/suburbs.  The gaudiness of this uniform fits right in with Fremont Street, the Heart Attack Grill, smoke-stained 60-year-old casinos offering $5.99 prime rib, and tourists in tank tops, fanny packs, and sandals with socks.  The fabric just doesn't work (the 80s bridesmaids dress comparison by @infrared41 works perfectly) and the gray being the dark contrast doesn't work AT ALL.  They would have been much better off going for a dazzle fabric version of a darker shade (the darker shadow of the helmet/something closer to the previous Penguins) instead of the metallic urine that we're peeling off the back of our retinas.

Or hell, at least match your actual shade if you're doing it.  This looks way too far off to be a monitor issue:

I'll bite.

Why is 'that's so Vegas'  wrong when frequent pinings of this very website include the desire to have Miami teams dressed in "Miami Vice" colors, and the less frequent but still a thing where New Orleans ought to embrace the colors of Mardi Gras?

It's where I sit.
