VDizzle12
The Cardinals have always felt too close to the Vick-era Falcons. The black helmet just pushes them even closer. Could have been so much better with decent uniforms. Can we stop with the awkward player reactions though? They seem so forced and cheesy.

It is quite odd how many of these have dropped this week out of nowhere. It’s almost like teams are coming up with these as we speak, but meanwhile teams like the Bucs that have wanted throwbacks for years have to wait for “supply chain issues” to resolve. Isn't the problem that the Bucs, eagles, Seahawks didn't have the jerseys in the supply chain in time. So the teams are all mainly all using current alternate jerseys, and then adding a helmet to match. Hence the black eagles just for this year. Wouldn't surprise me to see an action green Seahawks this year before throwbacks next year. 1 The World Basketball Championship, the Davis Cup, Ryder Cup, Iraq: Every day there's further proof that we, as a nation, are not very good at international competition. No, the Eagles have to wait on kelly green because Nike can't get the colour right. BBTV
That's weird, because when the helmet rule was changed, they said that they couldn't do kelly green jerseys in 2022 because the 2-year-rule still applied so they'd have to wait till 2023 (teams had a limited time to get a 2nd helmet submitted for '22, hence the black.) So now we've had three different stories: 1. league rules preventing any throwback not currently in the guide from debuting till 2023 (this is the story I believe) 2. supply-chain issues (I don't buy it in this case) 3. color matching issues (at least for the Eagles. I also don't buy this, because Nike makes plenty of kelly-green jerseys for other clients.) So now while that article didn't directly quote anyone from the Eagles, assuming it's true, they're directly contradicting both themselves and the league - just like Tampa and at least one other team. 2 "The views expressed here are mine and do not reflect the official opinion of my employer or the organization through which the Internet was accessed." Pretty sure the eagles historical kelly green was manufacturer stock color back in the day. I don't see why nike's stock kelly green could not fit the bill. The only issue I could see if they are trying to match current nike kelly fabric to 40 year old russell kelly green where the fabrics are completely different. I think it's weird that Cinci's seem to be positively received while Chicago is basically doing the same thing. Maybe the argument is that Chicago has too much history to alter? Or that using white as a base alt is less "out there" than orange? Personally I don't think I like any of them; just trying to understand why the Bengals got a pass. Maybe I could accept Bengals if it still had SOME orange in the helmet. IMO the Bears are a navy team with orange trim and the Bengals are an orange team with black trim. To me Houston and Carolina are less problematic since their schemes are more balanced (navy/red, black/silver/blue). I think there's a couple factors in play here. Bengals away uniform is pretty much their white color rush uniforms with the lack of orange in it. Their new white helmet helps complete the white tiger look it seems they were aiming for. It makes the uniform better. Regardless of everyone's opinion about Chicago's orange jersey, I think most would agree that the orange helmet makes the overall alternate uniform look worse, not better. Then there's the history side of it. Chicago's uniforms are iconic and the orange helmet means the Bears are a step or two away from meddling with their classic home/away uniform. Just my 2 cents but I think people were more receptive of Carolina and Houston because many believe both of those teams need new uniforms.
sitboaf
At this point, I don't mind if I dislike a helmet. I can live with it, if it is staying within the brand. The Bears are navy and orange. I'm willing to accept that new orange shell–it's in the family. The Eagles entire identity (aside from the wings on the helmet) is a dark bag of crap, but at least they have established that they own black. The Saints own black. The Cardinals own black. The Panthers are more black than teal. But, WTF are the Jets doing? An alt black uni since only 2019? Sorry, you don't qualify. And why copy the Eagles..again? P.S. The action plan for fixing the Cardinals is simple: keep the logo and blow everything else up. I'm ok with the flecked helmet.
Red Comet
It’s one thing if a few teams have alternate helmets. It’s quite another when half the league does. I wanted an end to the one helmet rule, but I didn’t think that it would involve a monkey’s paw curling. That’ll teach me to hope for better things. I’m just wondering how long before the Chiefs break out an all-yellow Color Rush look plus yellow helmet. I’ll call it the Planet Piss look. FiddySicks
There’s a concept floating around the internet that uses the back plumage of the Cardinal head as the helmet decal, and where the bird’s face would normally be is just the opening in the helmet where the player’s face is. It sounds goofy, but damned if I wouldn’t like to see that. It really wouldn’t be all that different from what the Eagles, Rams, and Vikings are currently doing. 5 1 1 On 11/19/2012 at 7:23 PM, oldschoolvikings said: She’s still half convinced “Chris Creamer” is a porn site.) KittSmith_95
So… Dare I say I like the Bears helmet? I do think the orange alternates need tweaks, but the helmet itself is clean. I think these will look better in action as well.
Dynasty
That Cardinals concept actually isn't that bad. Dare I say good? Regarding the logo's face being the opening where the player's face is, it makes more sense in hindsight than having wings sprouting out your head (looking at the Eagles).
