Survival79
Tampa Bay Lightning Colorado Avalanche Minnesota Wild Seattle Kraken Utah Something ‘Utah’s ready for a team,’ new owner says Smith said the NHL team has contracted with Doubleday & Cartwright, an independent creative studio that has worked on brand identity with pro sports teams and companies like Apple and Nike.“ They’ve done so many of these identities,” he said. “They’re the best on the planet. They’re there to go run that process. I’m not going to rush them. Like, it’s really important that we’re not saying, ‘Hey, this has to be ready by the fall, especially when it’s going to be ‘Utah Something.’ 1 1 1 Quote "If things have gone wrong, I'm talking to myself, and you've got a wet towel wrapped around your head." I understand wanting to get the brand right, but being a generic NHL team for a year feels like a terrible way to make a good first impression on a new market, especially when they're already going to be playing in an arena that wasn't designed for hockey. The hardest part is probably figuring out the name. Even though the Jets' owners originally planned to go with something else, the idea that the team could be anything else, but the Jets, was shot down pretty quickly by the fans. That alone probably made the process a lot quicker. I do agree that Utah would be foolish to go into year one with no name. Keeping the Coyotes name and branding temporarily would have at least bought them some time. But, that's not going to be possible with all of that staying behind in Arizona. Blizzard is just a bit too similar to Avalanche for me as @FinsUp1214 said. In general, I don't know if I've heard a nickname that I've totally fallen in love with and I think that a lot of that is due to the fact that it's hard to pair "Utah" with a nickname that compliments it well. Alliteration is basically impossible and some of the more organic options like Yellowjackets infringe too much on existing team names. Utah Yeti is a popular name getting thrown around and it is a half alliteration or whatever Utah Raptors is a thing in real life, only issue is the existing NBA team however it wouldn't bother me personally if the name was repeated.
zubazpirate
I might know a place where Utah could get a good deal on some Yeti-themed jerseys

That had crossed my mind, but no one has forced the Thunder to keep that terrible logo for this long. Colorado & Carolina both came up with their logos quickly after a relocation, and those turned out fine. It's still better than essentially wearing this for your entire first season. I am going to speculate that they will go with purple. 7 hours ago, FrutigerAero said: Utah Yeti is a popular name getting thrown around and it is a half alliteration or whatever 10 Quote "If things have gone wrong, I'm talking to myself, and you've got a wet towel wrapped around your head." Whatever name the Utah team picks, I’m sure it will be terrible and reflect the unserious nature of the league they’re in. 12 hours ago, CaliforniaGlowin said: Quote On 11/19/2012 at 7:23 PM, oldschoolvikings said: She’s still half convinced “Chris Creamer” is a porn site.) DJT
Still not thrilled on any choices so far. And I really hope they can crank something out good and fast so it doesn't have to be Utah HC for a year. Utah Fury apparently is a book series. Utah Yeti - still not sure how I feel about it Utah Dragons - same as yeti Utah Swarm - sounds decent but really don't need another black n yellow Utah Blizzard - hard no. Avalanche is right there. Utah Venom - Snakes? Scorpions? Vipers? "here come the Venom on the ice" no thanks

Is every single NHL team from now on going to have a "regional" nickname that has literally nothing to do with the region? And before anyone jumps in and says it is regional, the Yeti myth has nothing to do with the American mountain region, it's not the same as bigfoot/sasquatch. It would be like a team calling themselves the Utah Himalayan Brown Bears because they're a bear so they're the basically same thing as a Grizzly.
