andycumbee19
I think they should have made the whiskers on the right side of his face white.... But I like the upgrade. Sad to see the goalpost supporting the old logo's chin go. That was the first thing I noticed about that logo when they first came around
Gothamite
They could have fixed the bizarre steroided-out neck. Shame. The Green Bay Packers Uniform Database! Now in a handy blog.
Billy B
Still not too sure how I feel about this. The old one definitely could have used an update, but I think they could have done a lot better. I could see this looking dated pretty quickly. lightning25
The shading on the jaw bothers me a lot. If that was fixed then, IMO, the Panthers would have a pretty good logo (at least better than the old one). The shading on the top of the head doesn't look very good either. piratesfan16
Wow, that's one scary looking panther. I mean that with a negative connotation though. It seriously looks demented. It the eyes and "beard" that do it for me. *shudders*
AJM
Nice upgrade...big improvement. (MLF) Chicago Cannons, (IHA) Phoenix Firebirds - 2021 Xtreme Cup Champions (WAFL) Phoenix Federals - WAFL World Bowl XII Champions (Defunct)
Lights Out
Fantastic. A great modern update to a logo that was seriously becoming dated at this point. POTD: 2/4/12 3/4/
CDixonDesign
Now that it's leaked I can officially rant. I've stared in horror at this thing for a while. I was terribly disappointed when I got the first look. Many designers' quarrel with the last loo is how horribly drawn it was, and in my opinion this one is worse....I can agree fully with most of you that it could have been done better, there are parts I like and parts that baffle me considering Nike's previous work that was amazing. The ears are wrong, whiskers are inconsistent and, the biggest thing that stands out is the right "lazy" eye that was lost...I understand where they were going, and it's an excellent vision, but the execution just isn't there. Can't wait for you guys to see the word mark....
oldschoolvikings
A quick trace in Illustrator, trying my best to eliminate the curves of the hands and fingers, yields this:There are definitely parts of this I really like and parts I really don't. I'm gonna tweak the bits I'm sour on and see how it could have looked.Upgrade. Maybe not a major upgrade, but an upgrade nontheless. Like the eyes, really like the removal of the final useless black outline. Top of the head is much better shaped, but I have to agree with Goth... you're keeping the neck? http://dstewartpaint.blogspot.com/
Lights Out
Isn't the weird neck supposed to roughly represent the shape of the Carolinas or something? POTD: 2/4/12 3/4/

henburg
Overall I like it, its a good update of a 90's logo. It looks much more animated and fierce. The one thing bugging me is the right eye, which kind of makes the panther look like its squinting.
andycumbee19
Isn't the weird neck supposed to roughly represent the shape of the Carolinas or something?Happy accident, probably. That's actually pretty cool you noticed that.
_RH_
Perhaps they didn't want to alter that area since the general outline is the shape of the Carlinas? Personally, I think you eliminate the black on the original and call it good.
Jezus_Ghoti
To me, this falls right in line with the Cardinals and Lions as a very tasteful and effective modernization. I love it.
dgnmrwrw
Here's a quick look at the changes I would have made to what CDixon called (quite accurately, imo) an excellent idea that was sloppily executed.Basically, I thinned the whiskers and teeth a little and adjusted the highlighting on the top of the head, the chin/jaw area, and the neck. I also made the blue whiskers silver and made the eyes and teeth white. Thoughts? HURRICANES | PANTHERS | WHITE SOX | WOLFPACK
TFoA
It's weird: By itself, it's fine...but when you compare it to the old logo, its a downgrade. It's not like it's ugly, but it's only a few steps away from being an upgrade. The edits you guys have made would've made it an upgrade, however. So yeah, it's not BAD, but it's not exactly an upgrade, either. Hopefully they don't botch the uniforms & scripts.
McCall
It has it's issues, but overall I consider it an upgrade. It actually resembles a panther more now. Not perfect, but better. I don't think the "errors" pointed out are enough to take away from everything else. https://dribbble.com/MakaioCall
CJworks
Something more along the lines of this would've made me a very happy camper.EDIT: Now that I see dgnmrwrw's, I actually see what they were going for. It took me awhile to piece together the curves and swoops to get the whole picture. But still. Dribbble | Twitter | Facebook | Portfolio
