2012 MLB Season

I wonder if when Jamie Moyer throws a pitch he will scream out hey you kids get off my lawn.

XD Good one Tank!

You guys are jealous because you don't have a website like him.

If I wanted a website I would have one. It's not like you have to go through some rigorous approval process to be able to get a website. It's, like, $10 a year for a domain name.

Don't bother. the_fan is Tank's biggest fan. The guy has 79 posts and I'd guess that 70 of them are telling the rest of us how jealous we are of Tank. In other words, the_fan is anything but. He's really just a garden variety troll who has chosen Francis as his "jumping off" point.

I just realized how dumb it will look when the Brewers/Astros win another pennant with "AL Champs" hanging by/beside "NL Champs".

Of course the Brewers could have just been sent back to the AL where they belong and it wouldnt have been an issue.

agree with this. They fit perfectly in the AL Central with Minnesota, Detroit, and Chicago.

Johan Santana, remember him? He's officially getting the call on Opening Day.

I would watch my Rays on MLB Network at home since ESPN doesn't care about them. Unlike some members on the board, I don't live next to a MLB team. So I go to Louisville Slugger Field to watch my beloved Bats (AAA affilate of the Cincinnati Reds). Anyway, I can't wait for opening day with St.Louis battling Miami in Marlins Park.

ESPN article with Video

Well the way Ubaldo has been pitching I wouldn't be surprised if he hit every batter, and the ump with some of his pitches. They have been all over the place. With that being said, the timing and it being Tulowitzki...it was most likely on purpose. Now I don't remember the series of events but I think Ubaldo said something like "playing in Cleveland he felt like he was in heaven" and I guess the Rockies took that as a shot against them. Tulowitzki was the one who spoke up. I don't think Ubaldo said anything about hating Colorado or his teammates, so I'm not sure why they took offense to it in the first place...

Ubaldo said that he was unhappy with the Rockies last year and felt under appreciated because they didn't give a huge extension like the ones Tulowitzki and Gonzalez got. That prompted Tulo to respond by saying, basically, that if that's how he felt that he should've manned up and talked to the manager or GM about his desire to leave, instead of pouting like a baby and hurting the team on the field for four months. Then I think Ubaldo said something else in response, and Tulo said something to the affect that he should stop worrying about the Rockies and quit being a distraction to his current team.

Either way, Ubaldo comes off looking incredibly poor in this situation. His actions today were disgraceful, and the fact that he took a personal beef from off the field and turned it into an on the field matter, was even worse. When you step between those white lines, everything needs to be about your team. Starting a fight with a former teammate (over something completely unrelated) and possibly getting suspended for it was incredibly selfish. The fact that a low key, incredibly nice guy like Jim Tracy (who loved Ubaldo) said what he said, tells you everything you need to know about the situation.

The only thing I can say for the Rockies in regards to Jimenez is that it looks like so far they made the right call in dumping him.

He pitched terribly for the Indians last year and hasn't looked good at all in spring training this year. I thought last year and still think the Rockies got rid of him because there is something medically wrong with him and it may or may not be something that's fixable long term. He's basically admitted in some interviews that he wasn't 100% last year without going into any specifics as to what was wrong with him. I would even go as far to say that the Rockies mindset may have even been this guy is done and lets just get what we can for him before people stop giving him the benefit of the doubt based on past performances.

I think he's just frustrated and doesn't know how to handle it. I'm not sure if he's ever going to return to his 2010 form. If he's still hurt and his confidence is now shot, tough combo to come back from. If you go to BR-reference.com you will see the two most similar pitchers to him are Pete Harnisch and Joey Hamilton, two guys that are very well known for being very talented but even moreso for having a bad combo of injury and confidence problems that ultimately cost both of them any chance of reaching their true potential. Hopefully Jimenez doesn't go down that same road.

Reds are nearing a long extension with Joey Votto, this likely means that Brandon Phillips will be in another uniform next season.

Where'd you hear that? I remember him saying that he's against those long-term deals because he can't imagine making that big and long of a commitment. That was just a few years ago after he signed his 3-year deal, so I doubt his stance has changed in just a few years.

Apparently it could be worth $200M. Don't get me wrong, I love Votto - he's a hometown player - but ~$20M a year for him?

Awesome. It's a huge amount of scratch, but reupping Cain was even more important than bringing back Lincecum IMO.
