Story B: Red Wings go undefeated and score 100 goals in every game. They also beat a team comprised of Godzilla, the ghost of Abraham Lincoln, 2 Power Rangers and Betty White. Oh, and they played in the middle of Iraq on a military base. In the sand. With no ice. Santa gave them special sand-skates that allowed them to play in shorts and t-shirts in 115 degree weather. Jesus, Zeus and Buddha watched from the sidelines and ate cotton candy.

Why do they keep trying to make minor pro or major junior hockey work in Laval? It just doesn't. They should stop trying.

First things first, I'm skeptical that they're going to build a superfluous medium-sized arena in suburban Montreal when they're scrounging for funds to build a much-needed full-size arena in Quebec City. That said, I can see why they pulled the plug on Hamilton, because I can't see why they were ever plugged in: I literally cannot think of a worse place for the developmental Canadiens than outside of Toronto. I mean, that makes the ignominious locatioon of the Abbotsford Heat look like the Flyers' old Philadelphia Phantoms. At least hypothetical locations like New Orleans or Louisville or Kansas City would just meet the team with universal apathy.

Hamilton's place is probably in the OHL, which is also developmental hockey, but with the assurance that all the teams in the league are playing to win and not just running scrimmages (viz. Rockford and various Flames affiliates), so it would be a lateral move at worst. If they were to come back into the AHL, it would have to be with a relocated Marlies team, and that wouldn't happen unless MLSE got control of Copps, which I do not see.

But yeah, wouldn't be surprised if this all fell through.

♫ oh yeah, board goes on, long after the thrill of postin' is gone ♫

The city has already announced they would build a 3 rink sports complex back in 2009. The funding comes primarily from the city's surplus, along with a private enterprise. Of course, both the Federal and Provincial governments are putting money in this, but it's nowhere near the dumbass deal for the arena in Quebec City.

I honestly root for Montreal during the season, just in the hope that they meet the B's in the playoffs. There's really nothing like a B's/Habs series regardless of the round.

Hopefully they sneak in at 7 or 8.

The Habs are on a high at the moment, gaining 5 points on a possibility of 6 and by crushing Detroit at home. But they are still way behind and it's going to make alot more for this sequence to be considered a "playoff push".

Couture is getting bombarded on twitter about what he's going to do with the car. Couture for MVP Sunday! :) Double up on the autos :)

Not to potentially ruin the illusion, but if it's a real "live" draft then do they have both jerseys with players names on them and then bring the one out when chosen? OR is pre-determined ahead of time by the Captains so they can create the appropriate team jersey?

And is JR wearing pink lipstick?

Probably not, since Kessel and Hossa are both wearing #81.

I think they make up 2 sets of each jersey.

Yeah, they do. I remember that from last year.

Ottawa's fans were pretty entertaining tonight, not gonna lie

If by "entertaining", you mean boorish.

Buy some t-shirts and stuff at KJ Shop!
