Just saw this in the Atlanta paper...they may be playing one of the London games next year.

Does that mean for one game they will be the Atlanta Fawlcons

Might be too soon, I dunno, 1-4 hasn't always meant a death knell for some teams, but the NFC South is out now for certain, and with one of the two wild cards already booked for the #2 finisher in the NFC West, yeah, Atlanta has some tough sledding.

If it's any consolation for them, three of their losses were non-Conference, so if they can bounce back, they'll probably hold a few Conference record tiebreakers. But trying to vault past several teams is no easy thing.

More bad Falcon news.

Julio is done for the year it looks like.

Dammit so is my fantasy team. Although no one really cares.

Mike Smith is to much of an asshat to be coaching, the Falcons are a hell of a lot better than a 1-4 football team. Plus, I don't know how many tries Smith will need to get to the super bowl. He's already had 4. They won't fire him though. Let him take them another step back. But Geno looks really nice. 3 GW winning drives and the Jets are 3-2 after 5 games. Can't say anyone expected that.

The qualifications to be chosen for the show leaves the league with few choices. If there were no volunteers this year, the NFL would have four teams to choose from: Carolina, Oakland, Tampa Bay, and Tennessee.

Disqualifying teams that made the playoffs at least one of the previous two years and teams with new coaches eliminates nearly every team.

/That would be a terrible and amazing season of the show at the same time.

You can cross the Bucs off of that list too, because there is NO WAY they keep Schiano around beyond this season.

Brutal night for Atlanta fans as the Falcons & Braves both suffered soul-crushing (and in the Braves' case, season-ending) losses.

It's probably safe to say that about the Falcons too.

Didn't want to pile on.

It's tough to argue that, considering they're already 1-4 and still have games at Green Bay, at San Francisco, home to the Saints, home to the Seahawks, and a pair with the Panthers. There's almost no chance the Saints blow a 4-game lead in the division (although their second half schedule is staunch).

However, it is worth noting that the Falcons' 4 losses all have been one-possession games. They were awfully close to beating the Saints in Week 1, should have beaten Miami in Week 3, nearly completed the comeback against the Patriots last week, and between the Jets making plays when it counted the most (and some lousy game management by the coaching staff) last night. The problem is closing out drives and closing out games.

It is also worth noting that the NFC looks to be a bit down right now. The Falcons are only 2 games behind the second wild card spot. Granted, a lot of teams ahead of them, but a lot of season left, too. Although, losing Julio Jones for any amount of time doesn't help matters. Gotta think about 10 wins being the magic number....that means winning all five remaining home games and winning at least four road games (and there's 4 winnable road games: Arizona, Carolina, Buffalo in Toronto, and Tampa). Lose a home game, and now you gotta win at Lambeau Field in December or the final regular season game at Candlestick Park.....two very daunting tasks.

Tough, but we'll see what this team's made of in a couple weeks.

Pretty cool: This guy got his dad, a lifelong Bengals fan a cap, signed jersey, and tickets to his first ever NFL game!

Wow. I've never heard of anyone being a voluntary Bengals fan. Nobody chooses this life.

Actually, I take that back. While waiting in the security line for the Monday Night game earlier this year I met two guys from Montreal (wearing Bengals lederhosen) who told me they've been Bengals fans since the early 90's. I was like "me too, but why?" We had a laugh.

My roommate's parents put on a pretty good tailgate, it'd be awesome if they could host those guys. I hope they give him a good show. I've been to too many disappointing games at Paul Brown Stadium.

edit: just did the math. They're 6-3 when I'm in attendance at Paul Brown Stadium. That's surprisingly good.

It's only a freaking game people. Huge Lions fan, but you won't see me flying to Michigan to confront Matt Stafford because he had a terrible game versus the Packers. I think people need to check themselves before they embarass not only their fan base, but themselves as well.
