College Football 2014 Season

No stripes on the pants, the removal of the helmet stripe, the horrible design of the helmet and that ugly facemask is a fail in my book. I would rather have the old look back.
Stripes are not needed on every single helmet and/or pants. Especially when there's no stripes on the jersey. Miami has had a modern look for the past, what, 20 years at least? There's no need to shoehorn traditional design elements into a modern design.

Good! They did keep the classic all white helmet in the rotation. Love to see that. Solid looks from both Florida schools this off season.

The jerseys for Miami are good, but not great. Definitely an improvement over the old set though. The gray jersey is unnecessary, but I guess they're set on keeping that color around. Hopefully they don't use the orange helmets with the other uniform combinations. I'd like the white alternate helmet if the background logo was a lot lighter. Right now it takes your attention away from the U logo too much and just makes the helmet look busy.

Taking another look it's interesting they chose to match the color of the upper chest/shoulder "stripe" on the grey and green uniform top, but went with the accents on the orange and white ones (which will undoubtedly be the "primary" ones worn).

I actually think the green's my favorite, but will have to wait and see it on the field.

If they're going to keep the striping pattern on the helmet they need another pair of pants that has the striping also. As is it sticks out like a sore thumb and looks forced.

Being a Canes and Bucs fan, the Canes unis have grown on me in one day...still waiting on the Bucs. I would have like to seen a little less cluttered helmet and if they were going to eliminate the stripes on the pants, at least make the sublimated ibis a green/orange to stand out so the pants don't look so plain. The problems I have are 1) there seems to be only gray on helmets and nothing else and on the gray set, there seems to be no green. 2) plain helmet (no stripe) 3) dark mask 4) lack of pant striping and/or color 5) the thin green outline on the orange looks absent. As the sets were revealed, I think this is how they will wear them and not have so much mix/match. I swear, whether it is a prototype or a photoshop, when the first "reveals" were hitting the net, on the one back view, the white had a green helmet. I wish I would have saved it, but I was on my ipad. I have never seen it on any other photo. I'm going to dig through the history cache and look for it.

Are you sure the green helmet photo wasn't from the pro combat uni they wore a couple years ago? EDIT: n/m - they wore orange jerseys with the green helmets for those pro combat unis.

Smart is believing half of what you hear. Genius is knowing which half.

Removing stripes on helmets/pants does not make a uniform modern, it makes it boring. Besides what's the point of keeping the stripes on the helmet below and not have any on the pants?

I rated the new uniforms and I gave them a 5.43 out of 10.

Glad to see you're able to keep an open mind about such things.

Regardless of one's opinion on traditional v. modern, surely you can recognize that certain design elements contribute to a modern themed uniform, just as certain design elements contribute to a traditional themed uniform. For the past 20 or so years, Miami has gone with the modern theme, and this update only further emphasizes that. I do agree with you that the classic helmet does not match the new uniforms very well. If they're going completely modern with their uniforms, they should drop the traditional helmet.

I agree that Miami has always gone with a modern theme in the last 25 years, but each of their sets have always had stripes on the pants and since I have followed the team for the last 30 years I do not like the change at all. I believe that unless a team traditionally never had striping on pants (FSU & PSU) that to make the change to bring in plain pants simply ruins the design. The best example that I can use is Virginia Tech, their all-white set is simply amazing, but when they wear the plain white pants with the maroon jersey it simply is missing the mark. I think it would have been better if Nike incorporated the stripe that breaks the chest from the shoulders onto the pants as it would have tied the uniform together. But now there is an apparenent break in the jersey with no reason for it.

Yeah I live in a Suburb of Birmingham names Trussville the call it Trussvegas. I've heard a lot of towns that have ville at the end have a nickname of vegas at the end

The fact that more than one small town does this in no way changes the fact that it's kinda stupid.

Are you saying you've never visited a bud at Sam Houston St. to go party in Huntsvegas?

Personally I feel the Florida State update is miles ahead of the Miami update. The look just doesn't scream Hurricanes to me at all. Here's to a good Illinois update, look forward to what the Illini can do as B1G brethren.

The new Miami unis are ok but all the white helmets is just overkill. Some stripes on the pants would help a little.

Florida St is a lot better just because of the there is a great identity where Miami could be replicated for just about any team.

Hard to blame anyone for that, though. FSU's identify refers to a tribe that has a visual identify of its own. Nike borrowed from that, and it looks fantastic.

Miami is the Hurricanes. What visuals should Nike reference? Wind, water, and destruction? Those are ambiguous elements. There's the hurricane flag that they've used in the past, but I can't think of anything else. Nothing looks forced and it looks sleek. That's about all I could have hoped for anyway.

Just of the top of my head they could have used the U split colors as a stripe of some sort which would have brought some needed color to the white pants

It's Great to Be a Florida Gator! We now officially have the absolute, hands down, greatest football uniforms in all of the state of Florida...college or pro!

This...

2013-florida-gators-new-football-uniform

is 1,000 times better than this (UM)...

USP_NCAA_FOOTBALL__VIRGINIA_TECH_AT_MIAM

or this (FSU)...

or this (FAU)...

fauowls.jpg?w=1000

in fact, the second best looking team in the state is actually UCF!!!

Third would be USF!
