Tampa Bay Buccaneers Getting New Logo, Helmet & Uniforms

OK, being a Bucs fan and needing to update my collection, I think I'll go authentic. The Bucs website has both jerseys, but NFL shop only has red (why, doesn't the NFL run the individual shops?). I have a discount coupon (if it still works) for the NFL shop and since they raised prices (it used to be $250 for a pre-made one and $300 for customized, but now it's $295 premade and $300 customized), who should I get in red and white? I'm thinking V. Jackson and McCoy (if/when he signs long-term) or David. There really isn't anyone else to buy. There is a six week wait on customized so maybe I'll wait until the white is available (an nobody gets cut/hurt/traded). I'm thinking authentic so maybe the pewter will look better and the chrome will as well (compared to game or limited jersey). I'm scared VJax will become disposable with that big contract and those young receivers, David will become Ruud, and McCoy won't be signed...or be signed and then cut a few years down the road due to salary.

Why do people have such a hard time "getting" Jacksonville's helmet? Teal-nosed Jaguars (the 11th most rare kind) are well known for hiding in matte black shadows and jumping into piles of glossy gold (except, like, pretend that's reversed). You can clearly see that on the side of the helmet.

I don't think anyone has a hard time "getting" the helmet. It's just that it looks like trash. There's far better ways to execute the look they were going for besides what they came up with. There are too many things wrong with it to list, but for starters, the abrupt change in colors without a soft transition looks terrible, and creates the look of two totally different teams when players aren't all facing the same way. For another thing, the matte black clashes with the gold and the logo. The logo clashes with everything due to the shades and finish of the decal.

They could have done a softer transition, they could have done a San Diego state type gradient, they could have done the speckled paint like their previous set (wouldn't have completely gone with the concept but sometimes good ideas just don't translate in to real world scenarios), or they could have just gone solid black or even gold.

Instead, what they have is quite frankly an embarrassment to a league that is supposed to be a top-tier professional league, and the highest level of American football in the world. To say it looks like an Arena helmet is just too easy. I'll say it just looks like someone made a huge mistake.

But again, at least there was some thought put in to it, unlike with TB's new helmets that seriously do look like 5 people each had an idea and just implemented it without collaborating. TB rep 1 was sold on the chrome facemask, TB rep 2 was like "the flags need to be at least 3x as big!", then some vandal broke in and started graffiti painting the helmets, but got caught right away so only two black spray paint streaks were there, etc.

Whoever you do end up getting, definitely post pics here. I've yet to come across any detailed pictures of their authentic jerseys. I've seen the game and the chrome numbers look like ass. They look slightly better on the Limited, but not by much. I'm curious to see just how funky those digits are.

Also, I'd definitely get the red over the white. Both of them look like garbage compared to the last set, but at least there's some redeeming quality to the home jersey thanks to that bright red color. The white looks like someone smeared crap all over the bills old away jerseys.

And at this point I'd say go Levonte David or V Jax.

That HGI/Nike couldn't pull off what San Diego State managed to do ten years ago is shocking.

Also the Bucs/Jags preseason game is going to be a visual disaster. Look forward to that people. It'll be historic.

Well, I tried to order since my NFL coupon is still good and there's NO authentics available. So...either they are extremely popular, some kid in a sweatshop is having trouble making them, or they are pushing the far superior 2013 jerseys. I chatted with an NFL shop guy asking why the coupon isn't good on the Bucs website and they said the NFL shop is not partnered with team sites. I find that strange as most team shops are links to the main site.

I liked Lavonte David since he was drafted and gave him 2 full seasons to prove himself before investing in his jersey. I finally got it back in January and then BANG Bucs get new unis.
