2014 NFL Season Thread

Eagles have lost their most valuable defensive player DeMeco Ryans for the season. Not only was he their captain and among their best players, but their backups SUCK. This was pretty much the worst thing that could happen. You're not going to hear too much about it, and blame (nationally) will be spread elsewhere if/when they start losing more games, but his loss will absolutely cost them and contribute heavily to at least a few future losses.

He and Jason Peters are probably the two players that they simply can't afford to lose for an extended period of time. One down...

Trumaine Johnson is a human wasteland.

What is it with the Jets and butts? First the butt fumble, then today the butt TD....

Not the best effort from Denver today in NE. In my completely biased opinion though, I think there was some uneven officiating, particularly with the way they called contact down the field.

Really wasn't as bad as the score indicated, though. A punt return with a block that could have easily been ruled illegal and Wes Welker sucking and missing a pass right to his chest that popped up for an INT made it look a lot worse than it was.

Speaking of Welker, he's brought nothing to the table this year and would've been a good guy to move at the deadline.

Also, is the Brady rule not a thing anymore? Because on that fourth down sack towards the end of the first half, the defender went straight for the knees. Oh, and enough with the playing in New England. It's ridiculous.

I don't miss Wes Welker in a Patriots uniform at all. Textbook example of a guy who just can't handle the pressure.

He was a great fit last year, minus the Super Bowl no-show, which speaks to what you said about him not handling the pressure. This year, though, Emmanuel Sanders can do what Welker does and do it much, much better.

The uneven officiating AND the uneven commentating was ridiculous. Nantz and Simms are like the Patriots home announcers. The d!@# riding of the Patriots is in full effect once again!

I've never minded Phil Simms the way most Broncos fans seem to. I don't know, I don't really understand the hate.

My thought process from the last couple (winning) games:

Seahawks at Rams - Eh, I'll stay home from this game, I don't want to drive all the way to up to St. Louis only to be pissed off after the Rams lose.

Rams at 49ers - My girlfriend wants to go to the mall, I guess it wouldn't hurt missing this game, it's not like the Rams are going to win anyway.

So this question is: should I keep skipping games so that the Rams win?

Yes. 8 weeks of holiday shopping during football games are necessary.

What can you say about the Chargers' "performance" today other than bad things?

They played like they rented My Little Pony on Netflix instead of studying game film with the extra time they had to prepare.

New England is the greatest home frontrunner in history.

When they play at home, they are invincible to an almost arrogant degree.

They are the Saints of the AFC- God's Gift to the game of football at home, but not quite the same on the road.

See red, you do realize the last 3 NFL seasons have been set up so Peyton and Co. Could win the SB. Hearing a Bronco fan complain about officiating is so funny I can't even handle it. I can't wait to kick your overrated asses in KC in late November.

Chiefs win again, now 5-3 with wins against, Miami, New England, San Diego, and St.L that's a pretty decent resume.

Denver Nuggets Kansas City Chiefs Tampa Bay Rays

Colorado Buffaloes Purdue Boilermakers Florida Gators
