Just a reminder that the Penguins have ONE win in the Shark Tank since 1999.

They just need to win one. The Sharks can win the other so we can see the Pens win the Cup in those brilliant throwbacks.

Two trends are going up against each other going forward:

Penguins have won all their Cups on the road.... but we have had no Cup Final sweeps since 1998.

The Penguins are living proof that all you have to really do is start giving a damn in January.

I mean, they're so good they can sandbag THREE whole months and still be this close to a Cup.

Yeah, we didn't learn that already from the Kings or anything...

I have no problem with this series ending as quickly as possible. Hockey season wasn't fun this year, what with the black cloud of the false rape allegations and the St. Louis Blues not being the Midwest's failson for once.

Tell me about it. This hockey season has been one of the worst on record. First, GameCenter renewed my subscription for the full season package automatically when I couldn't afford to eat and they wouldn't refund me so that was fun. Then my one hockey fan coworker/friend left the company so I had nobody to Talk Puck with. Then I watched my team go from playoff expectations, to quickly realizing that was foolish, to watching John Fu!@#$% Tortorella coach my team, to the season being over 8 games after it began. Then I was given a glimmer of hope that the Red Wings and/or Penguins would miss the playoffs and of course neither team did. Given another glimmer of hope when nearly all of the a$$holes were eliminated in the first round, and now the one left is going to win the Stanley Cup. On top of that the regular season just didn't really have any moments that were that fun.

At this point another Pittsburgh championship is just like another Boston championship. It's like giving a rich kid a fourth car for doing nothing. It just doesn't matter. They won't appreciate it as much as other fanbases and that's fine because life is inherently unfair. So just end it now so I can move on to thinking exclusively about how the draft, world cup, and October.

In the regular season. Why does this matter in the Stanley Cup Final?

And why does it matter what the Penguins did 12 years ago when their leading scorer was Dick Tarnstrom?

It creates an interesting thought exercise, but under the current scheduling format Eastern teams only play at Western teams once, and they didn't even do that for much of the 2000s.

I'm not sure if there are any streaks that long, but with such a small sample size, you can't really read anything in that.

The whole point of playing any of the games is for stuff like this...If you just play a few games and then give the cup to the bet team, EVERYONE would have a Cup by now. And I'd much rather have a team play crappy until January, and make the playoffs, instead of a team play good until January and miss the playoffs.

And what about the Ducks??? They were awful at the beginning of the year, but turned it around and won the Pacific. But you only whine about the Penguins...

After sleeping on it a bit and reading some of the threads this morning, I've decided to watch Game 3. I know I have the feeling deep down this series is already over, but this group has shown more resiliency than previous Sharks teams, so if any group of them can overcome this, I guess this would be the one. At the very least, holding serve at home would make it a best of three again and while I don't agree that Pittsburgh is a better defensive team, they have sufficient puck possession skills and good speed, which has pretty much made the Sharks offense impotent.

What really gets in my crawl more about this series is not the fact they're down two. I mean, the Pens are a very good team and have been hot since February, so this isn't a fluke. Rather, the Joes have been virtually non-existent and the third pairing of Dillon and Pollak is getting eaten alive. I'd like to see DeMelo come back in to help move the puck more, but I doubt it happens.

If they lose Saturday, I don't see any reason to keep on watching. Yes, I know folks would give me :censored: for not being a diehard and others bring up the '11 Finals and what the '09 Pens did, but I haven't seen anything close to a team that could pull off four out five games against the Pens. I could see winning two and then taking another loss. But...I don't know. I guess I was just expecting a little more of a dogfight between two good teams and it just feels like their being manhandled in every which way.

"And then I remember to relax, and stop trying to hold on to it, and then it flows through me like rain and I can't feel anything but gratitude for every single moment of my stupid little life... You have no idea what I'm talking about, I'm sure. But don't worry... you will someday."

This series is looking eerily similar to the 2011 finals...  Pens score a late goal in game one, to win a tight contest.  Second game goes to OT and is ended nearly instantly.  I just hope the Sharks don't wake up and pull this off.  You haven't lost a series until you've lost at home.

Tell that to the 2003 Mighty Ducks.

Due to some strictly dumb luck work scheduling, I've only been able to watch about three seconds of this series so far (And won't be able to watch on Saturday due to work, either). If game 4 comes and they're down 3-0, it's going to be pretty tough to find the motivation to tune in. And considering the Warriors are in the Finals again this year, this whole thing has been pretty overshadowed locally. There's some buzz, don't get me wrong, but it figures that the ONE year the Sharks finally make the Finals, the wind is kinda taken out of their sails due to another (much more compelling, IMO) local team playing in the Finals at the same time.

Like I said earlier, though. Thems the shakes. I'm just happy they've made it this far.

No doubt, hope the Pens will take it easy for one game so they can win at home.

Let's see if they pick game 3 or 4 to lose on purpose in.
