Yeah, I knew I wasn’t going to be able to avoid this series forever. :censored:in :censored:, Cardinals. Get ready for the West Coast Red Sox/Yankees talk done to absolute death, and get ready to see my soul literally leave my body periodically and come crashing back down like a ten foot fall directly onto pavement.

This is a lifetime of :censored: talking privileges on the line.

I saw the Cardinals take the 1-0 lead in the first and turned it off after the inning ending double play with the bases loaded. I watched a movie instead. It looked and felt like we were going to have to deal with some more Cardinals bulls*** for at least 5 more games. I checked my phone this morning ready to be disappointed and I'm happy the correct team won. I'm certainly no fan of the Dodgers, but the Cardinals winning that game last night would've been annoying. The Dodgers are the Dodgers, but at least they're actually good.

Do the Red Sox haunt you in your sleep or what? They've spent all year being hopelessly inconsistent against decent teams and will be lucky to win two against Tampa Bay.

Let's talk about this now - why the :censored: do they not reseed after the wildcard game? Why the :censored: are the Dodgers and Giants playing in the NLDS? Under the old 4 team wildcard format those two teams wouldn't have played in the LDS because they were from the same division, which was silly for its own reasons, but this is even dumber. Just use overall records, you knuckleheads!

Because baseball likes to reward for winning the division.

If you win your division, the thinking is that you shouldn't have to play the best team in your league (and/or baseball) in the first round and if you're the best team in the league (and/or baseball), you should get rewarded with playing the team that didn't win the division, aka, the "worst" team in the league playoffs.

It just so happens that this year, the "worst" team is the second best team in baseball.

the Angels really exist for no reason except to ruin anything they come in contact with, whether it be generational talents that end up on their roster or other teams trying to actually accomplish something. vile franchise.

Arte, I will argue, is the worst owner in the majors. He spends, but always on bad decisions. Their minor-leaguers treated even worse than the poor standards of the league. They’ve got no real scouting department, all GM decisions need Arte’s approval, and the whole “Los Angeles Angels” thing (despite how some here defend it) alienated Anaheim folk. He won’t even let them tank to fill up on prospects.

Their only title happened because Dusty Baker is an awful playoff manager (maybe I shouldn’t be so harsh, as that 2002 Angels team was pretty top-notch). They’ve never come close to winning an ALCS since. Honestly, Mike Trout is kind of a coward for wanting to stay and never play any Games That Matter. I’m kind of glad he’s no longer the “face of baseball” (thanks to injuries), because he’s so boring and afraid of confrontation.

Of course, this was a vile franchise even in the Autry/Disney days. Are we forgetting Donnie Moore’s implosion, severely underpaying Nolan Ryan, and the run of pure mediocrity throughout much of their existence?

I hope Ohtani has the courage Trout lacked and leaves when he gets the chance.

That is if the Angles haven't ruined him by then.

Angles truly don't deserve either of them.

I know why they do it, I'm saying the reasoning is stupid. The division champs already got their reward for winning their division - it was avoiding the wildcard game. One of the division winners has to play the wildcard - Makes way more sense to build the system with a safeguard so that the best team doesn't get "rewarded" with playing the wildcard in the event that playing the wildcard is not actually a reward.

Now if a Giants fan comes in here and says they'd rather only have to beat the Dodgers 3 times instead of 4 I can buy that logic, but that logic also applies to the Braves and I'd take my chances that maybe the Braves could pull the upset and we wouldn't have to see the Dodgers at all.

It’s weird, but I’m cool with it.

Giants/Dodgers is one of the biggest rivalries in sports, the teams are damn near dead even in overall head to head, the Giants won the single season series 10-9, and won the division with an all time best franchise record while the Dodgers finished one game back, tying their own franchise record for wins. And with all of this, this is the VERY FIRST time these two are ever meeting in the playoffs. I’m pretty sure having this series with a World Series trip on the line would kill some fans. Me included.

I guess I just want to see a full 7 game series between those two teams. Remove the emotions and pretend instead of the Dodgers it's the Rockies that have 106 wins. You have a 4 team tournament with 107, 106, 95, and 88 wins. In what other world would you have the 107 and 106 win teams play each other first?

My favorite part of the game last night was the lack of strike zone overlay on the broadcast. It was beautiful!

That was a retirement present for Cowboy Joe West.

Except, he waited until he had a foot out the door to actually do his job competently.
