Is this the first year RGIII has done PBP? This is the second time I've heard him call a game, and he's pretty good!

Also pretty good are the Huskies and Michael Penix today.

He did it last year all year I believe and split some lower-grade games the year before with studio work. He was on the call of Kenny Pickett's fake slide last year and his call of the replay was tremendous. I know it's not everyone's cup of tea, but it's nice when announcers bring some personality to their job.

Herm is finally gone!

I’m mad they even waited this long. They should’ve shut off his keycard to the building somewhere around the third quarter last night.

Good riddance. It’s never been all that great for the Sun Devils, but these next few seasons are going to be ROUGH. With the PAC 12 disintegrating around them and them just flat out not being a worthwhile program, I’m genuinely wondering how much longer they even keep a football program. Ten years, maybe? I feel that’s a more likely route for them than them ever actually being nationally relevant.

Well, yesterday was a great day and today sucks. I was looking forward to ASU keeping Herm around and continuing to 💩 the bed.

Herm's Devils did beat Arizona 70-7 back when I was pretending to root for Arizona State. So that was neat. Otherwise, what a weird and dumb hire whose only great moment was predicated on the other school being run by people somehow even more incompetent.

Yeah the Herm Edwards hire never made much sense. The Graham years left some to be desired, but frankly, not really. Two ten win seasons and a berth in the PAC 12 title game my second year there was incredible. Plus huge wins over teams like Notre Dame and Wisconsin and it really was probably just about the ceiling for that program in its current form. Moving on from Graham felt kinda bold, but to go to a guy like Herm just felt like administration was just flailing around in the dark with no idea what to do.

It sucks, but the good days (which weren’t even really all that great to begin with) are pretty much over for the Sun Devils.

Now watch them not learn a single thing from any of this and throw a stupid amount of money at Urban Meyer. Which he’ll turn down.

What they need to do is get rid of Ray Anderson as the AD. Other than Bobby Hurley, he’s really crapped the bed in Tempe. Get someone in there that is credible and capable of hiring the right coach and get ASU respectable again. Honestly I think we could get rid of Michael Crow as well. Him and Anderson are against the NIL and there’s alumni who are willing to give money to the University just for the NIL. We don’t know where ASU is going to be in 10 years. But the fact that it is the largest University in the United States. I think I’m the long run, the football barring any penalty will be fine.

The FBS postseason status quo apologists (they've been around at least since the Coalition days) always talk about how they don't want college football to turn into March Madness.

With Kansas, Kentucky, North Carolina, Duke, Syracuse, UCLA and Indiana all 3-0, it already is. (I'm just sorry that UConn missed the memo)

Don't forget about Florida State....

...I don't care if it is barely by the skin of their teeth--the point is they're as yet undefeated.

With that said, I still ain't finna proclaim the program as "back"--there's still a lot of things to clean up on both sides of the ball (turnovers on one side, wrapping up and tackling on the other, and of course the at-times-too-cute playcalls), BUT what I saw, and what we're seeing in Tallahassee right now, is a team that's bought in to Mike Norvell (as have now many more of the fanbase who were still skeptical of his ability to lesd this program), taking on his personality, and had learned to fight all the way until the end. Last year this team would've folded up like an old lawn chair after Jordan Travis got hurt; instead, they dug in and fought to the end. That displays the biggest change from last year to this one: heart. This team has boatloads of heart now, and that's a direct credit to Norvell.

Now with all that said, the next few games will tell a bunch about just how deep that fortitude runs. That said, I'm loving the progression I'm seeing, because we all know they been butt for about six or seven years now...so I'm just enjoying this thing for what it is.

*Disclaimer: I am not an authoritative expert on stuff...I just do a lot of reading and research and keep in close connect with a bunch of people who are authoritative experts on stuff. 😁

The problem is, by the time in 5 weeks, how many of these teams will still be undefeated? Maybe Kentucky and UCLA. Duke, Syracuse and NC will all be facing each other and the other likes of the ACC and Kansas will be destroyed by the likes of Baylor, Texas and Oklahoma. Indiana will be tough,  but I don’t ever see them getting past Michigan and Oklahoma. By the time we get to the first playoff rankings. It’s still going to be status quo but with a couple surprises.

Don’t even get me started on Michael Crow. ASU is a shelled out corporate husk of what it once was, but at least they lead the way in “innovation” 🙄

You missed the point. Those other schools are basketball schools, or at least known for having successful March Madness runs.

The BCS was better than letting coaches and writers pick the champion, the CFP was better than the BCS and this new CFP is going to be better than the current CFP. Can’t beat 25 years of consistent forward progress.

Or you can just get it right the first time
