NFL 2022 Changes

Enough with the heat excuses. This team stopped wearing white by early October the past few seasons and survived. That is what is most bothersome about it to me. Why do they suddenly decide to do things differently? I guess maybe new organization members are in charge of the decision this season or something, but either way, would it kill them to wear light blue for a 4:25 kickoff in October rather than white to break up a 9 game stretch? I mean even the Cowboys don't usually go that many games without their color jersey appearing a couple of times.

The thing with the cowboys, as dumb as some may think it is, is that teams want to intentionally wear WAH to force the cowboys into navy so we end up seeing navy 3-5 times a year. Teams like the saints, jets, rams, giants, and even Washington  wear WAH against the cowboys on purpose so we get to see the navy jerseys a lot but nobody would intentionally wear white at home for a team like the panthers or bucs to force them into wearing red or black (or blue for the panthers) unless they’re playing each other or another WAH obsessed team like the dolphins. (Yes the Bucs and dolphins have an excuse for the first few months but not until week 17 like the Bucs are doing)

All good points. Maybe the Panthers are giving the Bucs a taste of their own medicine and forcing them into their dark color for that Week 7 game. The Week 5 game vs. San Fran is what really baffles me. Last year the Panthers wore black in Week 5 for a 1pm game against Philly.

Panthers really looking my Miami Dolphins with the uni schedule, however is in charge of uniforms there should be fired. i even think the dolphins are gonna wear aqua more time the panthers will wear colored jerseys. IMO the fins pull out the aquas W2, W4, W7, W10, W12, W16, W18

The only teams that can get away with that many games in white are the cowboys and florida teams

It gets pretty nasty in the Carolinas as well. That's why they'd start the season at home in white.

  1. Carolina should just go ahead and request to make their blue jerseys the primaries for next season if they want to avoid wearing dark colors as much as possible. Especially seeing how they have the black alternate helmets now. Be the fourth (technically fifth) blue and silver team in the league and just wear the "black out" alternates twice (or thrice) a season.
  2. It bugs the heck out of me that the Commanders and Rams have white numbers on their team color practice jerseys, but wear gold/yellow numbers on their game jerseys

I think Week 10 might be a white game but hopefully Week 12 is in fact aqua, unlike last season.

I see all this talk of WAH (ridiculous if you ask me), can someone explain to me how all these high school and college players manage to do it? I mean, it’s so hot in Miami, the dolphins wear white at 1 pm, yet 24 hours earlier in the same stadium, the hurricanes wore dark green or just had a blackout game.

Question. Are NFL teams required to wear alternate uniforms? In my mind it's optional, if your team has them. Seriously, would the Rams have gotten in trouble had they chose not to wear the bone uniforms at all this season?

No I don’t think so.

I’m sure it’s different in the NFL where the branding is so strong, but I’ve worked for pro sports teams where part of the uniform contract you sign with the manufacturer required a certain amount of different “on field/court/pitch” apparel. Most teams aren’t goi g to push back on something g like that, though. It really does require a lot of leverage to do something like that.

Week 10 the first game wearing a color. Ouch.

If the league made it so that white uniforms are the de facto home uniforms, you think teams would wear their colors for the rebellious factor?

If they wear the silver pants regularly, it's instantly a top 10 set in the league.

ONLY SILVER!  Get rid of navy pants all together.  I hated them in the Brady era set, I hate them even more being the only option!!!

So does that mean preseason games count towards the number of times you can wear an alt?

Yes.  Most teams don't wear alternates in the preseason.  I do know the Panthers have done it occasionally and it always counts toward the three games.

I don’t think you know how bad the Florida Sun is, and how it is all year. Wearing any color is unbearable. Wanting to wear white for some relief is perfectly acceptable. Carolina doesn’t have as much of a leg to stand on when there heat and Sun aren’t anywhere near as bad in the later months.

Exactly.  Speaking as a local, anytime after late October/early November thru beginning of March is a crapshoot.  2021 for example, November was mild and comfortable.  December was surprisingly above average and humid.

The Jaguars seem to have a different set of rules. When teal was the alternate, they had no issues wearing it twice in the preseason and three more times in the regular season.
