So, what exactly is “different” about these uniforms that Lavonte David was hyping up?

The template, and the shade of orange might be more accurate to the 1977-1996 shade instead of the 1976 Florida orange shade that was a little more towards the pastel shade a bit.

They can wear them three times but instead are choosing to wear them only once for a non-primetime game, which is why I feel like all this hype is excessive.

God forbid we lose 1 (or both) stupid all pewter anthracite games!

A quick peek at the pro shop at the RayJay earlier (which I narrowly missed since folks decided they wanna crash ALL up and down 275 today) showed me they're selling both the batwing template version of the creamsicles (that's my name for it, I don't know nor care what it's really called) for about $180, and the now-former template version for about $130. And as it happens, the stripes on those look to be fabric inserts a la the Steelers' construction since about forever. (Always wondered why more teams never opted to go that route with their sleeve stripes...)

Anyway, I'm glad I got and still have my personalized* one from 2009—in the original orange—ecause ain't no way I'm paying $180 for one of those.** Whatever the case, hey...at least I can start following my childhood team again. It'll be just like old times.

Spoiler

*Of course it's easy to personalize when you have the same last name as the guy who originally wore it...being blood kin doesn't hurt either. 😎

** Says the guy who blew 3 c-notes—twice—once each at a Baltimore Orioles game and at a Vegas Golden Knights game 🤷🏿‍♂️🤦🏿

*Disclaimer: I am not an authoritative expert on stuff...I just do a lot of reading and research and keep in close connect with a bunch of people who are authoritative experts on stuff. 😁

That’s actually my favorite thing about these. I firmly believe that the main reason why people seem to love them so much now is scarcity. If the Bucs had worn these twice a season for the past two decades, people would be just as tired of them now as they were when they originally moved on from them.

I love the Bucs, and really do genuinely like the creamsicles. But they’re better relegated to the past sans a handful of special occasions.

Twice in one season after a 10 year hiatus wouldn’t make them any less scarce. Why not wear them a couple times to show them off to the fans and increase jersey sales? It wouldn’t hurt to see them again in December rather than just reverting back to the Creamsicle-less days for the final 12+ weeks of the season, at least for this first season.

I agree though that many people think highly of  throwbacks for this reason, which is why I get annoyed when fans beg teams to make throwbacks the primary uniform.

I wonder how many people that love these are old enough to remember when they were a complete laughing stock in them.  Team performance shouldn't have anything to do with how we evaluate a uniform, but even all these years later, I can't separate the look from the joke of a team they were before they changed to the red/pewter.

It's a fun thing to see every now and then (though I mostly remember them in white tops, not orange... I wonder what the stats are on that, but I feel like they went WAH a lot in those days) but I think a full return would get old quick.  With the exception of the mono-pewter, they're in their "forever" look right now.

Oh - and they can wear them every game... if they put in the papers and change in two seasons.  So let's not get on the league's case here.

Yea I still call these the Yucs uniforms. They didn’t become the Bucs until the redesign. Then they became the yucs again during the first Nike redesign.

I remember it vividly, yet I still don't care that they're associated with terrible teams.  (They're also associated with a very good team that made it to the NFC Championship game in the franchise's third season, but that's treated, perhaps justifiably, as an anomaly.)

A good-looking uniform is still a good-looking uniform.  The Bucs are the rare franchise to have had a top-notch visual identity for most of its history (I'm intentionally omitting the short-lived alarm clock era, which most people despise), so I'm not suggesting these are better or worse than the uniforms they wore during their Super Bowl victories.

I'm just pointing out that, if they were to switch to these full time, I'd be perfectly fine with it. They're gorgeous uniforms, no matter what Vinny Testaverde did in them in 1989.

I think they also don't want to lose any white-at-home games since the team has become obsessed with the white over pewter look. Pewter jerseys have only been worn once each of the past two seasons, and I would expect that to stay that way.

A little underwhelmed by the choice of white, but there are worse options out there if this is indeed a variation of the Color Rush helmet. I'm interested to see how it will look with the full set, but I'm not expecting the most harmonious look.

Broncos will be one of the dumbest teams in the league if they really have a white helmet with the all orange uniform.  It makes no sense, much like the Lions one but in the Lions case the helmet looks cool. This has no chance of looking cool.

The league needs to change its rules. The alternate helmets (if they are going to stick around, and we all know they will) should be allowed with any uniform that the team selects, instead of being pigeon holed by some weird requirements from the league. It would stop the stupid combinations like the Saints black helmet with their Color Rush and the Lions blue helmet with their gray set. Somehow, the Panthers found a workaround but it feels like the rules are being applied inconsistently.

Alternate helmet for alternate helmets sake.

I'm firmly pro-alternate helmets. But only if they make sense, like a throwback or a color variation to complete a color rush look. A white Broncos helmet paired with anything other than an all-white look is completely unnecessary and will look terrible.

The obscured helmet looks like it has the D logo. Shame that they're only using their throwback look on an alternate white helmet paired with what I'm assuming is their all-orange color rush. Hoping they can be like the Panthers and designate it for their all-white aways but I doubt it.
