FiddySicks
How bout the Bombers?too soon?Beat me to it.Where's Timothy McVeigh when you need him?He met the same fate as basketball in Seattle. Quick, uncontested (Well, sorta), and HUGELY media driven execution. On 11/19/2012 at 7:23 PM, oldschoolvikings said: She’s still half convinced “Chris Creamer” is a porn site.) Krona
I'm sure folks in OKC would feel a bit uneasy about the Bomber name, obviously. I think Bombardiers would be a solution and a better name. It works on the historical and basketball levels. Gotta be the Bombardiers.
letterform
DeletedI actually thought of the name. Apparently so did a few others. DEATH TO REEBOK

jhans203
I really hope it's Thunderbirds because this is what comes to mind when I hear "Thunderbird." is what comes to mind for me.I don't like three-syllable team names as a rule; they always get shortened in use, so why not just use the shorter nickname? Nobody will call them the "Thunderbirds," they'll be the "T-Birds" or the "Birds", depending. But the name does grow on me despite that, and I like how it thematically references the old team name. I would still name them the Dusters if I owned the team, with a dual Western/tornado theme, but Thunderbirds is creeping into my top three.I am alumni of Southern Utah University. We are the SUU Thunderbirds, but we always go by the shortened name T-Birds. I would love the OKC Thunderbirds nickname...alot. I am biased. But, OKC Thunder would be good too. mrfab
All along I liked OKC Thunderbirds, the whole icon notion of large jet plane sized BAD a$$ Bird flying WAY above the rim, to mash metaphors. Now I'm liking Oklahoma City Posse. I know, THe Perfect Team Name! My current color scheme is deep blue main color, rust accent color and a CRAZY green thrown into the mess. I'd also go Respectful Stylish Native American a la original Vancouver Grizzlies, previous Phoenix Coyotes with a schmear of Seattle Thunderbird. How cool or un is it to steal one city's NBA team AND junior hockey nickname?!? "Hope ya folks don't mind while we mine yer harbors on the way out, heh heh . . .". I shall NOT get into the I feel pretty sad WA/OK national politics, might not matter as much after November, & in a good way. Back on OKC NBA topic, enjoy your new team, be good to 'em & they'll be good to you! Seattle SONICS NBA Fans: Keep the faith, sport idiot family members. Being a big league fan is ALL about getting your team, or another, BACK. A state of art Seattle Center re-do sounds doable & Mr. Ballmer seems the BIG local owner The New Sonics need. The variable of relocated teams or expansion remains moot. Emerald Hoops City enters The Usual NBA Suspects category as Las Vegas & KC etc. Either that or the Weird Reality of Seattle basically having to do to another city what OKC did to them, ie, broke the lease, stole the team, spent their way out.Question & Maybe A OKC NBA Color Hint: All of today's Messrs. Bennett/Stern/Durrant @ the settlement presser, the blue shade used behind the "OKC NBA" graphic backgrounds COULD be a possible main color, a blue shade that would suit the OKC Tornados Typhoons Twisters Dust Devils weather or geography names. Also sure would look good with POSSE! Either way with no geography stake involved, there's nothing more fun than watching a new team, as you young folks say, "DROP!"l "The Amazing Fabwell... Red Wolf
I don't like using Oklahoma City as much as I just like using Oklahoma. My favorites, in order are:1) Outlaws. After the old USFL team, also just a cool name2) Thunderbirds. I've always thought it was a cool nickname and it goes well with Oklahoma's Native American history3) Twisters: After tornadoes and crap and the only other team I can think of with the name is the Arkansas AF2 team and I think it fits Oklahoma well

DrBear
I'd suggest Oklahoma City OKs, but that might be too difficult for the owners to spell.Or they could go back to the beginning of the state: The Oklahoma City Indian Land Thieves.Of course, the owners might just be obvious: The Oklahoma City :censored: You Seattles

mfoster
I'm okay with Barons or Thunderbirds. Someone suggested Runners for the land run, but I think a return to the 89ers name would serve that theme better. Boomers works along the land run lines as well, but might alienate some Boone State Aggies. When you get down to it, for such a small area with a seemingly limited history, OKC has plenty of themes to work from:Oil & GasWeatherNative Americans Land RunCowboys & RanchingAt the end of the day I'll be very surprised to find they name the team something outside of one of these themes.BTW, I ran "Oklahoma City" though another TESS search from the Trademark Office and didn't come up with anything new. TBGKon
So will they stay in the Northwest division? That would be the thought, but I'm trying to see if there is a way to move them to the Southwest Division, but it's a tough one.
CubsFanBudMan
I like Barons or Thunderbirds. For whatever reason, I like the continued use of yellow for the team. I guess since the Hornets and Sonics both had it. Maybe red and yellow?
