I haven't read anything confirming it, but I'm fairly certain this theory is right.

As for not wearing the black alts on a non-Friday since the 2012 wild card game, I don't recall them ever wearing them on a non-Friday before last night.

Old story here, but I do remember one Sunday night game in 2013 when they did indeed wear black. If I can find evidence, I'll update you for sure.

Didn't stop the Angels and Rangers.

MLB "recommends" teams not wear similar alternates.  They can though because there is no hard or fast rule.  But for a playoff game, MLB might have been able to exert more influence than for a regular season game in Arlington.

Go Astros!

Go Texans!

Go Rockets!

Go Javelinas!

I'm one adamant that a rule limiting alternate jerseys will never happen in MLB but that Angels-Rangers pic tells my brain that if it ever did happen, the limits should be on the road team more than anything. I feel like the Angels are the team "in the wrong" in that pic. Let the Rangers do their occasional "red day" and introduce some color into their uniforms but the road team should be the one forced to be the more subdued, more neutral looking team. Overused road alts seem to be more of a problem than the occasional home alternate meant to provide some variety at home ballparks.

Something that just occurred to me is that the Blue Jays and Indians seem to like their blue alts a lot. I don't expect it to be a problem when Cleveland's at home, seeing they'd likely wear their whites I would guess, but in Toronto will Cleveland budge and go road greys to avoid royal/navy? If it comes to it I hope they do, but of course if I had my way it'd be white vs. grey all the way no matter who's home or away.

Indians typically go with what the starting pitcher that day prefers. Trevor Bauer seems to like the traditional home/away, while the other starters have gone with the navy alts quite a bit. I would expect navy for Game 1, white for Game 2.

Anyone else notice the Dodgers' "RESPECT" shirts after clinching have a blue ribbon while the mens t-shirts being sold on MLB.com have a red one?  (The toddler and preschool ones have the blue ribbon, so I'm not sure why they went red for the other....?)

With the Nats out, we're guaranteed two blue-primary teams in the World Series again. Thankfully each set is either really great or really good, so the matchup will be nice either way (as well as two classic looks). However from a purely aesthetic standpoint, I think the best one would be Indians/Dodgers. Navy/Red vs. Royal/White/splash of Red I think will be more contrasted than the other possibilities would be.

Just looking at each one:

CLE/LAD - Navy/Red v. Royal/White/Splash of Red

CLE/CHC - Navy/Red v. Royal/Red

TOR/LAD - Royal/White/Splash of Red v. Royal/White/Splash of Red

TOR/CHC - Royal/White/Splash of Red v. Royal/Red

That all said...I still want Indians/Cubs!

If the Jays get past the Indians, I REALLY hope they bust these out for their first home game. Dare to dream, but that would be such a great look.

I'll be rooting for whichever teams are least likely to wear batting practice jerseys during the games, so Dodgers and whomever.

Were they making up a Friday game? Because the Orioles typically wear the jersey which the game was scheduled for.

Royal vs Navy tonight

Okay, i like alternates more than greys, but this is just ridiculous. Toronto need to white at home, grey on the road, and once in a while the blue.

Cleveland ? surprised they didn't went sleeveless ;)
