Chargers finally announced their uniform schedule and despite saying Powder Blue would be the primary home uniform are only wearing it 4 times.

The white dominates the schedule but thankfully they only wear the navy once:

If they're wearing white in Miami week 4, that would be the earliest in a long time that the Dolphins are wearing aqua for a daytime kick-off

Because those logos were never actually good? 🤷‍♂️

What would you deem to be the shortcomings of the 80's helmet logo?

Assuming the inevitable announcement of the Browns using their Color Rush uniform as their primary home uniform, that will make (from memory) 5 teams without proper matching home & away uniforms. Giants, Cowboys, Rams, Chargers all already “practice” this. It’s such a bad look on a team.

The plane is awkward, the letters self-consciously “kewl”. Looks especially terrible pointing backwards on the helmet. Would be easier to explain what I like about that logo. Let me think.... the shade of green. There. That’s it.

Cant agree with you there - the Packers ruined their road jerseys in the 1980s when they shoehorned it into their home uniform template.   But different colors react to each other differently, and a striping pattern that looks good with green as a delineator falls apart when white and gold have to touch each other.

Not everything has to be matchy-matchy.  Sometimes a little variation can elevate the design.

@Gothamite ah yes, a little variation elevates the design

That's quite disingenuous.

Gothamite is talking about two sets of sleeve stripes that look similar and share a colour scheme.

This is two completely different uniforms. From striping to the number fonts, to the colours.

Apples to oranges.

I completely understood what was being said. Small details being changed for the better, or worse. I was talking about major changes to a uniform i.e. the Rams using two completely different designs and colors for their home and away sets.

Of course. The Chargers are such a stupid team.

As far as I know, this is the first time the Bucs released any kind of uniform schedule.  Only three different combinations this year.  Looks like they’re taking advantage of the new sock rule.

No white over pewter?

The Brian’s Song remake had these historically inaccurate Bears socks that actually looked good. Now that it’s legal, I wouldn’t hate the Bears switching eventually.

EDIT: Basically, those were the Color Rush socks before Color Rush was a thing. They look much better with white pants.

I agree and feel it's definitely a case by case thing. Some great set vary on the home and road in other sports, it can be pulled off in football as well. The Packers are a good example, though I wouldn't argue that the current white look is bad.

What does “self-consciously kewl” mean?
