2024 NFL Changes

Recommended Posts

Honestly, the Texans are the one team that really didn't need a uniform change. They had a pretty decent set. Just use the red helmet full-time and make some tweaks and it would've been fine.

I’d like this more if the navy bevel in the decal used the helmet’s navy instead of a printed mid-navy.

Smart is believing half of what you hear. Genius is knowing which half.

Where'd you find this graphic ?? I know GUD well but I never saw this "show all possible combos" type of image . I only found the "who wore what when" and year-by-year combos

It's in the blog section, May 2020. GUD did a preview of all the new uniforms for that season, with all foreseeable combinations.

Lions --

It is too early to pass judgment since we don't know what the rest of the uniform looks like.  However, I like what I see.

My only disappointment is the sleeve striping.  The Lions have been wearing Northwestern stripes since 1957 (at least on the road uniforms), so they have become an iconic part of the brand in my opinion.  As a result, it surprises me to see them go.

Texans --

That H logo is definitely a departure from the rest of their logo set, and not necessarily in a good way.  There will clearly be two separate identities trying to coexist now.

The font reminds me of the LA Clippers black alternates with the GTA-San Andreas wordmark.  I thought that uniform was an example of trying too hard to be cool and suspect this set will fall into the same trap (though we won't know until we set the rest of the uniform).

This has a very City Connect feel to them. Considering that idea has graced both MLB and NBA, I am wondering if the Texans are kind of the first team to gineua pig the concept for the NFL -- considering they are only 22 years old, kind of makes sense to use them as the test subject

If you do. Google image search on Barry Sanders, I don’t think there’s a single image that shows what most people would call Northwestern stripes. In some cases the sleeves are cut, but their “NW” stripes have outlines on every stripe, similar to the Steelers.  I would not call their classic look a NW-striped jersey.

It would be absolutely poetic if the Texans set turned out to be even worse than the Titans set

It's as if both franchises are fighting to be Guy Fieri's favorite team, and his favorite colors happen to be navy, red, and powder blue

Yeah that Houston helmet sucks. The Texans got it correct the first time and really didn’t need any changes. This feels like forcing the issue just for change’s sake.

We’ve seen a large group of teams already ditch their bad idea Nike changes and revert to classic looks. I guarantee we’ll be seeing the Texans do the same in 5-10 years.
