I seriously thought the NHL/Reebok was moving past things like Piping, Colour by numbers templates, and jerseys without hem stripes. Guess this was just wishful thinking. If the Kings had stuck with purple and gold, it would've been fine, you're right; but by jumping on the Raiders bandwagon, it went from "Inglewood Forum harmony" to "jump on what's popular" and ruined everything. The Ducks' palette could've work for the Kings. The gold is royal enough. Sure.Eh, the Mighty Ducks already tried looking like the Kings. As nice as those black "Anaheim" 3rds were and as much as everyone, myself included, liked those jerseys, the one thing I could never fully embrace about them was that the purple/black/silver was treading way way too close to the Kings. It's bad enough that both teams have changed to majority black schemes. The difference between the two teams was better these last two seasons with the Ducks bring out more orange and the Kings bringing back a bit more purple and those purple/gold retros. It was a nice dichotomy between the two, but that's blown to hell with the Kings going almost completely black now (which makes the Wayne Simmonds trade kinda weird. Way to build my hopes up and then smash them Panthers.... AGAIN.Better than the stupid blue/blue 3rds? Sure, anything would have been as long as it was red. But wow. Panthers? Not surprised. I hope they keep the logo, recolor it, and change the name to the Hamilton Tigers. The classic Hamilton "H" logo would be a great shoulder logo.
