NFL Playoffs: Super Bowl LIII

I’ve been to the Pro Bowl 7 times and it’s always been at least a tad boring. The games I went to in Hawaii weren’t bad, but a lot of that had to do with being in Hawaii and me being a pre teen. The games I’ve gone to stateside have been absolutely MISERABLE. I went in 2015 and it ended up being the most useless game I’ve ever seen. I have absolutey no idea who won or who even played in it. All I remember is that it was grey vs light grey and some former players picked the teams. I think a player’s wife flipped out on Twitter at the league over a missed payment due to some health issue and that was easily the most memorable thing that has happened at the Pro Bowl in at

least 10 years.

Matt Moore was never good enough to be a franchise QB. He just made the other scrubs look worse.

Probably true, but if they would have sucked with him for a few years, they could have gotten someone better than Tannehill by 2014, like Carr or Jimmy G.

You also have people going on about the Pats only being good because the AFC East is trash, which @Cosmic has dispensed with.

I didn't see anybody doing that. I just said that the AFC East being the worst division in the NFL since realignment definitely hasn't hurt. The law of averages says that at some point the Patriots will decline, but also the Bills, Jets, and Dolphins have to not suck more often.

At this point though, arguing against the Patriots was like that one guy arguing Lebron only went to the finals 8 years in a row because the Eastern Conference was bad. At a certain point you just have to say that "no, they're just actually that ridiculously good".

In 2013ish there was a real Manning vs Brady argument and you could make arguments for Peyton Manning and not look like a lunatic, but that's over now.

Speaking of...

I chuckle at this and the people of St. Louis who seem to forget the truth that the Rams burned LA to go to St. Louis. What goes around, comes around, so St. Louis deserves it. :)

i wonder how much all of this is going to come back and hurt the NFL.

Probably nothing at all.

This reflects more poorly on the Saints fan base than it does the NFL.

It’s apparently easier for them to claim conspiracy against the Saints than the truth, which is that the refs simply made a terrible non-call.

Yeah, seriously.  So they live in Los Angeles County.  Los Angles County would be the 10th largest state in the Union by population if it were a state and is more than twice the size of Louisiana.  Talk about a nothingburger.

St. Louis fans have been kind of screwed when it's come to the NFL. First they had the Football Cardinals who were basically the Football Clippers of old because their ownership was trash that was cheap and didn't give a crap about winning. Then they got the Rams and sure they got a Super Bowl and all that, but it always felt like it was just a matter of time before they'd go back to Los Angeles. I'm not saying St. Louis deserves a team or anything, but they have had pretty bad luck with NFL teams.

To be fair, it was a bad call that literally cost a team the chance to go to the Super Bowl.  While I'd be happy if my team was the benefactor, it will really taint their win should they pull it off (again - if it was my team, I wouldn't care and would tell everyone to blow me.)

Anyway... while I do believe in conspiracies and do believe that games are tilted, I believe that it's at the behest of the league, under the influence of networks and maybe Vegas.  I don't think that referee preference has anything to do with it.  I don't think pro referees are even fans of teams in the sports they ref (though there was that guy that congratulated Tom Brady after he set some record and got some autographed stuff... that was poor form.)

Not to mention that before the NFC Championship, the Rams were 0-8 with Orange County resident Bill Vinovich as head referee, including that same crew for their first game in New Orleans in Week 9 where the Rams got screwed on a bad spot. There was no referee conspiracy in the Rams' favor.

So... for the final time... to any Saints fans that are really going this far with it, whether its lawsuits or writing congressmen or statements from the governor or bringing it to the Senate floor or all the way to conspiracy theories...
