FiddySicks
Well, the Rams definitely have the best defense the Pats have seen so far this post season. It’s garbage we’re stuck being subjected to them again, but I think they’re going to get legitimately killed in the Super Bowl. It’d be really cool if Suh literally ripped Brady in half, too. Still MIGHTY
Wow... What a football Sunday. My team, my HOME team is going to the Super Bowl. (Still very surreal.) I'm absolutely ecstatic, and I'll remember everything about the moment, the feeling, my stupid silly reaction to Greg Zuerlein knocking through that 57-yard field goal to send the LOS ANGELES Rams to the Super Bowl. I can't be sorry about that. But I also know that the Rams should have lost that game. That DPI non-call was truly horrendous. Pass interference. Helmet to Helmet. The whole thing. That's a Saints first down, they run down the clock, hit the easy field goal and go on to Atlanta. I know that is what this game will be remembered for at large in the years to come. On the other hand... the Saints blew a 13-0 lead, Sean Payton's playcalling after the Ted Ginn deep ball was atrocious, Brees threw that killing OT pick, and there were a handful of calls in the game that didn't go the Rams way either and could have changed the direction of the game much earlier (In the Week 9 game, the Rams also got denied the ability to finish the comeback on a bad spot on a fourth-down fake. Stuff like that happens). Major props to the Rams defense, holding the Saints on the first two series (which could have ended up in disaster) and making giant plays down the stretch and in OT. Huge kudos to Jared Goff, who started out incredibly bad but made up for it with some incredible passes late and two monster play-making throws in the OT. And again, big points to John Fassel and Johnny Hekker for calling and executing yet another fake punt that gave the Rams much-needed early life. And now, funnily enough, the New England Patriots as an opponent. For long-time Rams fans that stuck through to/from St. Louis, this is a revenge opportunity they've looked forward to for a while. For me personally, it's a personal grudge. When I was wandering through the no-NFL-in-LA wilderness, I latched onto the Colts as my team during the Peyton Manning era. Suffice to say there were one or two Colts-Patriots match-ups in that time that made my blood boil, so I have no love lost for the Patriots. Only fitting, for the long time Rams fans and for myself, that the Patriots and Tom Brady are the last thing in our way. Sucks that it had to come at the expense of my favorite team, but it’s been what? Like 40 years since the Los Angeles Rams reached the Superb Owl? Their fans should get to feel that joy. Dynasty
Just saying... the Texans where the ones that blew the number two seed, by losing to a Nick Foles-led Eagles team that was damn near dead at that time of the season. Not saying the Patriots wouldn't have made it as far as they did, but an extra game could've made a difference.

NFL rules is just RNG - if you win the coin flip you win, if you lose the coin flip you lose. Well, except for the team that literally won the coin toss yesterday and lost. NFL teams win about 55% of the time in overtime after winning the coin toss. College teams win about 55% of the time in overtime after winning the coin toss. Neither system is particularly good. Just take the NFL system, give each team a guaranteed possession, and change nothing else. If there's a winner after each team touches the ball, it's over. If not, then it's sudden death. The first two possessions should start with a kickoff. You can choose to go for it on 4th, or choose to kickoff, which is essentially your punt. After each team gets one possession that starts from a kickoff (after a score or after a 4th down kickoff) then it’s sudden death (if still tied). pianoknight
I was a STL Rams fan because I just started seriously getting into football when Warner and Faulk were setting the world on fire. And, since I'm a huge Nebraska fan, this feels nice because the Rams had the chance to draft Suh and took Bradford. What a dumb move. Glad they figured it out finally. Lights Out
I'm just glad the Rams made it because it secures the fact that the Chargers will never have a fanbase in LA. pmoehrin
Aside from the obvious, my only question about the Saints/Rams game what was on earth was Sean Payton thinking on the play calling sequence before the non-pass interference call happened? You have the ball on the 13-yard line within two minutes to go. The game is tied and the other team only has two timeouts left. ESPN had them at an 89% chance of winning the game at that point. Just run the damn ball three times and kick the field goal. It would have given the Rams less than a minute to get into field goal territory without any timeouts to help them. That first down incomplete pass completely changed the dynamic of the game. It added at least another 30 seconds on the clock for the Rams offense and now instead of "a touchdown here would be nice" you almost need to score a touchdown to ensure the game is put away. After each team gets one possession that starts from a kickoff (after a score or after a 4th down kickoff) then it’s sudden death (if still tied). Gotta disagree Vet. The Big Lead's Kyle Koster gets it right. Quote Is it frustrating for the fans that Patrick Mahomes didn’t touch the ball in overtime? Sure. Is it fair? Well, yeah. It’s fair. Those upset about how the AFC Championship Game was resolved conveniently forget that the NFL overtime worked to perfection earlier in the afternoon. Both teams touched the ball because the team that started on defense made a play. Just because you lose the coin toss doesn’t mean you have to lose the game. Doing anything but allowing the other team to march 80 yards to glory ensures an offensive possession. The best way to avoid the randomness of an overtime coin toss is to win in regulation. The best way to avoid losing in overtime without possessing the ball is to prevent a touchdown. Overtime — and the game at large — is a quest to find a winner, not to create a utopian where everything is fair and balanced. Bad calls and inequitable circumstances are part of sports. It’s not entirely satisfying, but the NFL’s overtime is far superior to what college is doing.

Yeah, any long suffering Viking fan can tell you this isn't the first time a blatant non-call cost a team a Superbowl trip in the Superdome. If you want, YouTube has the videos of the numerous late hits and cheap shots on Favre's knees and ankles performed by Saints players with Sean Payton and human garbage dumpster Greg Williams's cash stuffed in their jock straps.
