but that's a function of jersey templates and the ".0234 percent lighter" mentality.

It's more likely that it's a function of player preference, since sleeves were shrinking way before the Nike BS about their performance materials started.

These photos are from the 1994 season, and players were already either having their jerseys tailored or tucking the sleeves in underneath their pads.  I think it's time to put aside the "everything was better back in my day" schtick and accept that some changes are legitimately due to function rather than fashion.

I’m in the minority, but the red numbers don’t look good at all.

Agreed. Red next to orange is too much of a clash and they blend and blur together really well.

This would be gorgeous with some white pants.

I'd even settle for just red socks instead of pewter.

This is 2020. If you’re wearing dark colors, you’re legally required to wear the same color from head to toe.

Because they would be illegible during a game

Yeah the legibility issue was probably my biggest concern while making it, the contrast may just be too low. It's probably more legible than some uniforms allowed in the past as Buc pointed out, but the NFL has seemed to crack down on that issue a bit since incidents like the Bills vs Jets Colorblind game a few years ago. Still, I feel that the Pewter uniforms are boring without orange and even a little black trim, and I felt that it was worth a shot.

GREAT work.  So much better.  Again, insane that the powers that be couldn't figure this out.  So simple.

The orange has to touch either black or pewter or else it gets muted next to the red.

Great job

That pewter jersey is just about perfect. The red jersey is alright too, but I prefer the black arm and neck trim.

This was the most well-timed uniform overhaul in the history of the NFL, possibly sports

This would be an interesting topic. The Cavaliers 2003 rebrand coinciding with winning the LeBron lottery was incredible timing. Seahawks 2011 coinciding with Russell Wilson getting drafted would also be a strong contender

Cavs 2003 & 2011, Seahawks 2011, Warriors 2010, Magic 2012, Washington 2020(Chase Young?)...ect.

This should really be it's own thread once we get enough of 'em.

The Twins won the 1987 World Series in their first year in the "M" caps and pinstripes. I remember wondering to myself as a kid whether the uniform change made a difference.

Uni-Watch touched on this back in 2011.

I'll never really understand why so many pro sports teams work so hard to ignore the wishes of their fans. It seems like so many teams are dead set on doing absolutely ANYTHING besides what their fans ask for. The Buc's did right by their fans (so did the Browns). They make it seem like the fans are impossible to please or something, but I think these owners/management are too stubborn for their own good

The Magic have had the same set since 2008.

In an "almost was", the New York Jets went to the throwbacks in 1998 and made it to the AFC Championship game.

Competing in the same division, Tennessee lost in the final seconds of the Super Bowl in its first year as the Titans.

Because at the end of the day the owners only care about fans when their wallets are being threatened. Many owners think it's fine to change unis every 5 years or so to force the fans to shell out more of their hard-earned money that goes straight into a billionaire's pocket. And they only change back to the original uniforms and claim they "listened to the fans" when it becomes apparent that their newfangled uniforms are HATED and are not flying off the shelves (like the Bucs and Browns)...because owners have yet to understand that fans are actually thinking human beings and can tell when they're being taken for a ride. Looks like Arthur Blank has yet to realize that, but probably will by 2025 when fans have been clamoring for 5 years for a return to their old unis...that's my prediction for 2025, and I'll add the Rams to that too.
