FiddySicks
Yeah I’m sort of torn on the City Connect look for the Giants. They’re gaudy as all hell, and I still don’t love a lot of it. But they’re like 12-1 in them which rules, and the addition of the orange helmet also rules. If they’re gonna go gaudy, they might as well go full out. 2 On 11/19/2012 at 7:23 PM, oldschoolvikings said: She’s still half convinced “Chris Creamer” is a porn site.) Looked good and gave them something unique to build around that wasn't a gradient or muddy colors. It'd work even better with the brighter blue and yellow too. It was a nice one-off alternate, but I'm sold on it full time.

Definitely not alone in that sentiment. It looked so good. 9 2 1 1 NCAA Baseball Champions | 2014, 2019 facebook
BadSeed84
They could've at least had the cooler G on the hats with the sweet old wordmark. 7
Bmac
A few notes from around the league: -Most teams (not just the Phillies) are missing their alternate jerseys due to production delays. It'll be interesting to see who gets theirs first. San Diego has theirs, who else? -Giants got permission to add the City Connect uniforms as a full time alternate. (can't imagine the league having any problem with that) -Many promotional pieces from MLB feature the winged G logo on caps for Cleveland, rather than the new C. I'll try to get a screenshot. https://www.behance.net/bmatukewic8043

Even last year we already saw City Connect jerseys that weren't confined to a single weekend or anything ... maybe they weren't worn as regularly as a standard alternate, but they also seemed like an ever-present sort of option if you wanted it.

It's because they won't embrace their innate 1998ness. What I'd like to see them do is jazz up the jerseys. The Rays, like most everyone else, really got dragged back into a conservative look when the baseball aesthetic pendulum swung back toward traditional. Not to say we need to go back to the rainbow guts and feather sleeve pullovers of yore, but some teams bend over backwards to appear so "traditional" that it hurts the look. The Rays are a main offender, as are the Astros' current orange/navy era. Going back to the 'Stros City jersey is a great example actually; laying a gradient on top of a very classic headspoon is an odd design choice. Just go fully modernist and take that piping out of it entirely.

Brewers, Rays, Cubs, Reds, Nationals have worn alternate jerseys. All City Connect jerseys are full time alternates for the next couple of years. Smart is believing half of what you hear. I'm having a hard time thinking of any city that identifies with a single color better than SF does with International Orange, the color of the Golden Gate Bridge. AND THEY DIDN'T USE IT. I'm wondering if they questioned what the point of using (what could be viewed as) a slightly different orange would be. It's not like the Giants normal colours are navy and red where the International Orange would be a marked and intentional departure, it would just be kind of different where it may have just looked like a misprinted/miscoloured jersey. They may have just figured the Giants are famously already orange and figured it was good enough to bridge (ha!) the gap and get the point across.

Assuming they wear the pinstripes this weekend, they will have all of their jersey options available with zero delays.

MJWalker45
It's weird to me that they are doing this for Jackie Robinson day. the patch has the team's normal number font but the back of the jersey is a Dodger blue 42. Just have the team's normal font on the back and use the 75th anniversary patch on the sleeve.
