I'm genuinely not trying to Canuckjack the thread here, but I really hope Vegas wears something like this, the Flames keep wearing their blasty fauxbacks, etc because it would ideally make the Canucks flying skate look less prominent and would hopefully quiet down all the people drunk on 90s nostalgia

I don't like what the Avs or Sharks are doing.

Avs - Nice home, away should have maroon equipment

Sharks - Nice away, home should have black equipment

The Sharks could try silver equipment as well. That is just way too much blue

I'm liking the Sharks set. Teal helmet and pants might be a bit much for the home uniform, but it could look interesting. Great way to add more teal to the roads instead of having their primary colour dominated by black equipment.

Is the Vegas jersey based on anything in particular or is this more of a 90's fauxback?

And then they stumbled right into mono-teal for their home look while still not bringing in the silver people wanted, so it's one step forward and two steps back.

Yeah I’m kinda torn on this one so far. Adding the hem stripe again and FINALLY ditching that god awful baby poo yellow color they use are both fantastic moves, but the addition of the teal helmet and shorts just feels like it’s way too much. The black in their set is absolutely necessary IMO.

I think the Sharks pic we're seeing is one from a list of options, based on the caption. I would put money down on there being another version of that design with black helmets and pants, and hopefully that's the one they use.

Also, hard to tell from one digit, but I think that's the numeral font the Barracuda are using on their new jerseys this season.

For all the bird de lis haters I think the bird de lis isnt supposed to be a pelican and a fleur de lis I think its just a fleur de lis with a pelicans head. Thats what it looks like to me. Also the flair around the tip of the beak is just flair that fleur de lis have sometimes source I am from NOLA.

I've definitely come to prefer the Sharks in black pants & helmets, but as far as the jerseys go, those look great; it's just a shame that we'll probably have to wait another year before they look like a normal hockey team again.

The Sharks have always had a mostly black and scarcely teal crest, so I don't think the Avs argument against using black equipment really applies. I'm excited about more traditional (but slower) uniforms for them, but the black/teal/black/teal split did work well for them.

Nostalgia has always been a driving factor of marketing, but it feels like it's ramped up a lot in the last 5 years or so, even beyond sports.

We live in profoundly miserable times. Every day, the world is just a little worse than it was the day before. People want to think back to a time when food didn't cost so much and everyone else wasn't so annoying. For instance, I'm deeply nostalgic for 2014. 2012-2015 more or less got things right. Bring back the Sabres' banana capes; they're emblematic of a golden age when your mom didn't know what Gamergate was.

To me SJ should lose the orange and go back to the original teal and grey, so that's a plus.  I fear that teal breezers will be too much (not enough grey), maybe they could do something like one of these two to feel like "teal+grey" team whether they're at home or on road: (trying to keep the "grey on black on white on teal" pattern - with extra teal in middle of grey for bottom set)

Is it me or are the numbers on the back of the Sharks jerseys two very different fonts? And it looks like the number font is the Suns/Cavs font (edit Sodboy noted it was the Barracuda font)

Removing the orange is nice, but it really needs silver.

Smart is believing half of what you hear. Genius is knowing which half.

Vegas looks great.
San José the away isn’t bad, but the home could improve with black equipment. Their current set has its issues, but they are one of the few teams that I thought their best look was Edge 1.0. the Home and away had great color balance. I know the orange stripes weren’t popular, but This set is in my personal top 10.

If the Sharks want to return to their roots correctly, they need to take a look at the Buffalo Sabres for a great redesign example.

When the Sabres brought back the classic logo and uniforms, they remodeled everything. They fixed the logo by retracing all the parts that were rough, removed the useless repeat shoulder logos, and made small changes to the stripes to add some flair but kept the tweeks to a minimum. The Sabres don't need the same logo 3 times on each jersey. The parts that were kept intact were the elements that still possess that classic aesthetic appeal over any period of time. They knocked it out the park and I haven't heard anybody complain about the Sabres new look. This is coming from a fan of the Washington Capitals current home and roads.

The Sharks need to simplify the original crest. If they make changes to the 90s striping, they need to come up with something that looks equally nice or better. I would be okay with a customized font, if it fits the overall look. There's a few things they can keep. And some that really need an update. Keeping the sliver stripes may or may not work.

The problem with nostalgia trips is that once the honeymoon phase is over, the parts that aren't good about a certain uniform look become very apparent.

If SJ can make it work with teal pants, I would be okay with that change.
