infrared41
Yes James, that's exactly what I'm saying. You both know what I meant. Stop acting like you don't.I read your previous post and looked through all of the WS winners in my lifetime thinking, "Surely 'Red is wrong. There has to be a team WORSE than the '88 Dodgers." I retract my previous disagreement (unless you want to give a nod to the '81 Dodgers). Didn't that '81 team still have Garvey, Cey, Lopes, Baker, etc? And a young Mike Scioscia? I'll have to look it up but I remember that '81 Dodgers team to be pretty solid although I do remember being shocked that they were able to beat the Yankees. Sport
Bah, could've been the Reds. I blame Francisco Cordero for blowing 95 saves this year. Two more wins and we would've played the Braves instead of the Phillies. It'll definitely be interesting to see how the Giants offense fares against the Phillies pitching. Phillies in 5. TFoA
First round exit seemed like the only right way for Bobby to end his career, eh? That meeting with Lowe in the 7th was basically Bobby Cox in a nutshell. If he trusted you enough, he'd take your word. Unfortunately that was one of the factors led to the demise of the 2010 Braves.Eh. Once again, idk why I'm this disappointed. This is basically what I expected, and yeah, it would've been nice to have a healthy squad (you could really tell that the squad missed Chipper, Prado, and GOOD Heyward), but it still kinda sucks. Oh well, it was a great year, nice run for the Braves. Hopefully the next guy can come in here and not turn the Braves ship into the bottom of the ocean, but send it back to the top of the mountain. They've got some decent vets mixed in with good young talent. Just gotta keep it going and make sure that the end of Bobby Cox ISN'T the end of the Braves as a class organization in MLB. So yeah, good season, Braves. Make sure it doesn't stop here. And just like I said before this all started, now that my favorite team is out, I'm jumping on the Giants bandwagon. You orange bastards better win it all...except for Cody Ross. Hated him as a Marlin & somehow I hate him as a Giant too. But it's all good. I will be rocking my Giants fitted for the rest of their playoff run.
Brave-Bird 08
I MISS BOBBY COX ALREADY!! Most heartbreaking playoff series ever. Such an emotional rollercoaster. Sad to see Bobby's career come to an end. He's been a consistent figure on my TV set for my entire life.

With that said, the Phillies offense is definitely tougher then the Braves. BEAR DOWN ARIZONA!2013/14 Tanks Picks Champion
knnhrvy16
Man, I was really hoping the Braves could pull it out for Bobby. I had thought the Giants would win the series from the beginning, but deep down I was really wanting to see Bobby get another ring. Oh well, what a career. Truly one of the all-time greats, and certainly the manager I consider, along with Joe Torre, to be one of the two greatest managers of my lifetime. I'm gonna miss tuning into sportscenter and seeing the Cox Ejection Tracker in all seriousness though, on a grand scale, there's very few managers who you can say had the success Bobby had. He's right up there in the same class as Stengel, McGraw, Lasorda, McCarthy, Torre, and Anderson. As for the series, am I the only one who thinks that this series has been the most exciting in the playoffs so far? I know the series was only four games, but I came away from each game wired with excitement. Lincecum's two-hitter, Ankiel's moonshot, Hinske's dead-pull shot, Sanchez's 11 K's, and then this gem of a fourth game - to me it was constant excitement. It'll be hard to top that for me. The opinions I express are mine, and mine only. If I am to express them, it is not to say you or anyone else is wrong, and certainly not to say that I am right. JayJaxon
I am upset about Atlanta losing. Although everyone was telling me they had no chance, I still believed it because I love that team and I respect Bobby Cox. Cox took over as the Braves Manager for the second time when I was 8 years old. It is going to be odd seeing someone else there. But I want to congratulate the Giants and their fans. It was very touching to see the Giants players stop the celebration long enough to clap for Bobby. They are a very talented and classy team. Please beat the Phillies. FiddySicks
As much as I flat out HATED Bobby Cox as a manager at times, there are few I'd like to have more leading my team. He will be missed. As for the Giants, well I'm flat out PUMPED. Coming into this season the Giants biggest downfall (other than lack of hitting) was their complete and total lack of the ability to come back from any defecit. I've seen this team step up all year and rally back to win some big games. These last two the biggest of them all. Of course, Atlanta was basically a hot mess on both sides of the ball, but The Giants were always able to keep their cool and do what needed to be done. Beating Philly would be quite a large upset, but if they play their best ball and stick to the fundamentals, I think it could be done. That and I made a bet with a friend from Philly at the beginning of the season that the Giants would go further than the Phillies, and I REALLY don't wanna wear a Phillies NL Champs T Shirt next season. CDixonDesign
Hate to see the Bravos eliminated, but the Giants just found ways to produce runs... The more and more I think about it, Bobby Cox is baseball. He embodied everything that I love about the game..... including getting tossed.. The Phillies have a tendancy for their entire lineup to just go cold for short stretches (though it hasn't really happened in September/October the last few years) so if that's what's happening right now, there could be a lot of 1-0 or 2-1 games that go either way. On paper, the Phillies should win the series, but as we all know, there are a lot of variables that can't be taken into account on paper.
