NIKE NFL Uniforms

That hand gesture is getting old and it's only April. Oh well.

Yeah it's definitely already jumped the shark in the NCAA, it's going to be obnoxious about 1 minute into the preseason.

I tend to disagree. I like it when the Oregon Ducks do it, so I think it's cool that NFL teams are doing it.

That might be one of the most egregious examples of FFFS (font for font's sake) yet.

Either go with all rounded edges, or all angled. I personally hate when they get mixed like that.

Why does Nike even bother with the glove logos? Celebrating like that is a guaranteed penalty.

Mighty Ducks of Anaheim (CHL - 2018 Orr Cup Champions) Chicago Rivermen (UBA/WBL - 2014, 2015, 2017 Intercontinental Cup Champions)

King's Own Hexham FC (BIP - 2022 Saint's Cup Champions) Portland Explorers (EFL - Elite Bowl XIX Champions) Real San Diego (UPL) Red Bull Seattle (ULL - 2018, 2019, 2020 Gait Cup Champions) Vancouver Huskies (CL)

IIRC, Larry Johnson was penalized after scoring a touchdown a few years ago because he threw up Jay-Z's hand symbol in the end zone...

I can't remember when it happened exactly, but I do remember it being a Chiefs fan and really wanting to smack him after he did that.

Not that it's the same as putting the gloves together to make the logo, but it's just a thought.

And infuriating once the excessive celebration penalties start.

But seriously, we need to not call the Packers, Raiders, and Patriots heroes for standing up to Lord Nike. Those franchises are all out to make money just like any other company. Personally, I think that the Raiders not adopting a black Flywire shows stubbornness and the characteristics Al Davis was often lampooned for when he was alive.

It's stubbornness to want to preserve your aesthetic tradition and team brand by not bowing to the whims of Nike? Interesting.

I'm pretty sure the above teams have the flywire option if the player wants to wear it on game day since it is technically a performance based addition and not a fashion item (even though some players will wear it because it's "cool").

I'm not so sure about that since it completely changes the look, especially if you already have collar trim. And if that is the case, Nike probably would've had uniforms there that showed the look with flywire, rather than without.

No they won't have "alternate cut" jerseys with flywire for the Packers, Eagles, Falcons, Panthers, or Raiders. Their uniforms are not made by Nike's on-field uniform suppler(who's name escapes me - Powers? Rogers? something like that).

The text for each of those teams states they "preferred to stay with their current supplier" - which means their uniforms are still made by Ripon, which does not make the on-field uniforms for Nike. These teams opted out this year; you won't see any variation of the Elite 51 for them. There aren't even any uniform photos of the on-field uniforms for those teams on Nike's site; just the gloves and shoes (of course also the retail jerseys)

Where do you see that? I only see this on Nike's site:

The Green Bay Packers have chosen to stay with their traditional design aesthetic as well as their former uniform fabrication for the coming season. In addition to serving as the Packers on-field supplier for uniforms, sideline apparel, practice wear and baselayer, Nike will provide both men?s and women?s fan wear apparel.

Way I read that is that Nike will be making the uniforms, but in the old patterns. I'd love to know if that's not the case.

Ice_Cap: Which is primarily my problem with Nike. When they designed the Seahawks uniforms they didn't ask "how can we design the best Seattle Seahawks uniform possible?" They asked "how can we use the Seattle Seahawks' desire for new uniforms as a means to further promote the Nike brand?"

Me: Amen!!! That is exactly why I hate Nike. They basically invented the idea of putting the manufacturer logo above and larger than the team. They are all about selling NIKE. The NFL should be dealing with companies which are all about selling the NFL.

I have never bought a t-shirt, shorts or sweatshirt that has the manufacturer logo as the main or only logo. No swoosh, no 3 stripes, no puma. I will buy a Bills shirt, or an Indiana U. t-shirt, and if it has one of those somewhere, fine, but it amazes me how many people would rather wear a NIKE shirt and have nothing but a swoosh and a corporate slogan on it.

If the uniforms they made for the NFL are better to play in, great. But we must be honest that they are worse to look at.

Ripon will still be manufacturing the jerseys for Green Bay, Oakland, Philadelphia, Atlanta and Carolina. You're not going to find it in any press release, though.

Just chiming in on what I've read, but are we really getting on teams' moral high horse because they rejected the flywire collars for their jerseys, even though they won't be noticeable on away jerseys at all? I can understand teams with the half-colored collars looking stupid, but we're praising teams for doing the right thing because they don't have stripes by the collar that won't even be able to be seen on the field most of the time? It's not like Nike's changed most of the designs a la RBK Edge, anyway...

Reminds me also how Giant fans on my Twitter and Facebook were bragging/chest-thumping about the Giants keeping their jerseys and talking all about tradition and how classic looks on great teams don't go away and stuff. Great, 30 other teams basically kept their looks, too.

What a horrificly stupid decision by the Lambs.

If they should have done anything is s-can those white pants. They look bad with both the white jersey's and and the blue jersey's.

I like all 3 colors. But I prefer white and blue to the gold. And yes, I know I'm in the minority.

Ohh well. When you are as irrelevant as the Rams are, does it even matter? They'll be in Los Angelas in a few years anyway.

I think you don't know much about the Rams' history. They won't go back to LA. Ever.

Collar looks far more bearable here. I have a feeling it will for pretty much every other jersey in action.

Agreed. It still seems a little too big but in that picture it definitely isn't as bad. I'll reserve truly final judgment until I see the on-field product.

That's Jay-Z's hand symbol? That's also a hand symbol for a certain female body part...

He looks like an old guy with saggy man-boobs who's got intense stomach sweat and is smuggling a pocket watch in his jock.

Also, is the FlyWire technology a part of the cleats, or embedded in the uniform as a whole?
