But I really like the Redtails as a way of honoring the Tuskegee Airmen. However, Ron Rivera has said that the new name will honor BOTH Natives AND the military. Yeah, I read that sentence and envision the missing words ... "in other ways," like through a dedicated foundation or financial contributions and related programming in support of Native Americans and military. From what I understand since his hiring, he is essentially a co-GM with another guy and has control over most things dealing with the team. Houston oilers are missed for their awesome colors, not as much for the actual name. Washington’s gonna keep their colors so I don’t think theirs any real fondness for the name in 20 years.
