Anyone mind giving an outsider's impression of the Clemson/Carolina game this weekend? Just curious since all I see is bias during this week.

It's a rivalry game, you know. No bias here, but these are two teams that are looking to get in a better bowl position.

Also, can South Carolina's defense stop Clemson's offense? I'm pretty sure that you saw what they did to NC State last week.

South Carolina is banged up, Clemson's offense is on fire. But it is Clemson, so you never know. I'll pick Clemson, but not surely.

The Bayou Classic is this weekend. Not if it will be shown on NBC or NBC Sports Network.

"Regular" NBC will carry the game Saturday.

However, as of now, this is the final year of the contract between NBC, State Farm, and the schools. State Farm will no longer be the title sponsor to the game, but will have other sponsorships during the weekend in New Orleans after this year's game.

Also on Friday its CCSLC favorite rivalry, Wildcats vs Sun Devils! Unlike last year when both teams were disappointments, both teams are doing fine this year. There will be a lot of points for sure.

It's the most wonderful time of the year! :P

Eh, without Kev(Rich) truly showing his colors, we'll probably be pretty civil around here. And it even though it's usually a pretty damn good game anyway, both teams are high on offense. This should definitely be an exciting edition of the Territorial Cup, college football's oldest trophy.

GIVE 'EM HELL DEVILS! GET THAT CUP! FORK U of A!

Ah yes, Oregon's one weakness. Team's playing incredible defense with a great gameplan. How foolish of him to fall for that

Well, gee, you'd think that after years of season-derailing losses to Boise State, Auburn, LSU, and now Stanford where the common theme is Oregon getting outrushed, Chip "Genius" Kelly would realize this and adjust accordingly, instead of calling run play after run play in the 4th quarter and overtime.

I said that Chip's playcalling was bad. I'm just saying that Oregon wasn't "exposed" by an overtime loss to a highly ranked team.

And it isn't even totally Kelly's fault. Our inside runs actually had some success, but he can't control players trying to bounce it outside when he calls an inside run all the time, as all of this players did. He also can't control Marcus Mariota rolling to sideline instead of staying in the pocket and delivering a throw.

No, you've been "exposed" when your supposedly-unstoppable offense puts up 14 points.

And our defense also only let Stanford score 14 in regulation. Sometimes, one side of the ball doesn't play well. Great teams then make up for it by the other side playing great. Oregon could certainly have won this game. They would've been exposed if they put up 14 points, and then allowed 35 from Stanford.

Stanford's offense is averaging 28 points per game this year. That includes putting up 48 against Colorado, 50 against Duke, and 54 against Arizona -- three teams that don't even crack the top 100 scoring defenses list. So, I mean, if you want to say that holding a team averaging ~19 points per game against non-absolutely horrid defenses to 14 in regulation is great, then sure, I guess you could say the Oregon defense played "great." Or you could say they played around as well or marginally better than the SJSU, USC, Washington, California, and Washington State defenses.

Don't kid yourself into thinking Stanford's a team that puts up points. Oregon's game was to be one of the highest scoring teams in the land with one of the best offenses. Stanford's game is to be one of the teams that allows the least amount of points, having one of the best defenses. Stanford's bread and butter was better than Oregon's supposedly-unstoppable bread and butter. Stanford showed how you stop Oregon. That's being "exposed."

Amare32>Kevin any day, he would be someone I used to get a beer with before the game would ever play. He was fun, Mr. Wos was just annoying as hell! But the Territorial Cup will come home to Tempe and stay there. RichFraud will no doubt be used to losing just like he was in Ann Arbor for years to come.

Oregon had 405 yards of offense. They slowed us down, but they didn't stop us. Oregon just couldn't capitalize on good field position (which had to do with Standford's defense for sure). Granted, Stanford had 411 yards of offense, but Oregon also forced 3 fumbles.

Also, they have a much better QB now than with Nunes. Hogan is going to be a star, you watch.

Oregon set's itself up for stuff like this though. They set such high expectations for their offense, than when they have a bad day, everyone immediately goes "THEY'VE BEEN EXPOSED!!". No other team has to go through this. Any other team loses an overtime game to a top 15 team, nobody is going to talk about them being exposed. It's like in the 2011 National Championship game, when people said Auburn crushed Oregon, when Oregon limited them to 22 points, and then Auburn won on a freak play, and a field goal with no time remaining. It doesn't matter how good Oregon's defense plays, because their offense gets all the credit.

You're definitely more confident than I am, Gary. ASU has looked great at times this year vs some really weak competition, and has looked downright miserable vs good competition. If this game was in Tempe, I'd say we've got this one in the bag. U of A has been downright horrible on the road this season. BUT, they've looked great at home.

I'm just hoping I get off of work in time to actually see some of the game.

Oregon scored 14 points. 14. That is stoping the opponent.

Hogan is a Freshman who was in his first road start at your Autzen Stadium. If a FR can win in his first road start, so much for the noise and "your crowd".

While Oregon put 50+ on Stanford in 2010 and 2011, Stanford is the only team to beat a Chip Kelly team twice. David Shaw made it clear last week, "The thing is, it's not complicated. It's just complicated during the game. The adjustments they make are so subtle that you don't realize it until they've scored three touchdowns on you. You change to try to cover what they're doing, and they make another change. They spend a lot of time looking at you. They run simple plays and however you're stopping their simple plays, Chip takes advantage of what you're doing, which is the brilliance of the simplicity."

You know, with all of the great freshman qbs this year, you would think that people would stop going "Oh he's just a freshman". Football is changing. Some of these freshman are coming in ready for collegiate football (see Brett Hundley, Marcus Mariota, Jonny Manziel). .

And again, you're only focusing on the offense. Oregon isn't all offense. It's just suffering from that perception, and even if they lose an overtime game to a highly ranked team, if their offense didn't score, they're "exposed". Like I said, they are the only team in the country that can lose an overtime game to a ranked opponent, and be "exposed".

Heading to the Land of Lincoln Showdown! Nah, its not a rivalry much anymore, but Northwestern/Illini should be fun up in Evanston. (Though I hear NU has no school spirit during games). It'll be fun, last college game I went to was ND/Utah some 3 years ago(?)
