Caps need to get their act together. The second line, headed up by Evgeny Kuznetsov, may as well stayed home for the last six games because they’ve been invisible. Yeah the no-goal was stupid imo but the response to that needs to be more energy, not conceding. Carolina has flat-out wanted it more in each of their three wins.

It’s funny, coming into this series if I could’ve handpicked a team to lose to, it would’ve been the Canes. I’ve got a close friend who is a big fan, the players seem pretty likeable, they’re young and fresh and haven’t been in the playoffs for a decade. Funny what losing three important games to a team will do to you.

Why the heck is this series going the distance? Washington should've been done with Carolina 2 games ago.

Now, they have to deal with an old buddy, the two words that send shivers through the spine of any Caps fan; GAME. SEVEN.

Why do I have a sickening feeling in my stomach that Washington is going to lay a wet [censored] on the ice in Game 7?

Another top seed bites the dust.

I disagree, I'm not really surprised to see this. From a distance this looked like a good season for them. From someone who has been watching closely, they were playing stuck in third gear all season. The fact that they managed first in the central wasn't reflective of how they were playing, which felt fairly middling, and made it more frustrating. This is arguably the best lineup the Preds have ever had, but they looked tired, and like they were phoning it in. I thought (largely hoped) they'd get through Dallas, but I had them losing to the Blues. Good job Stars, but I'll be shocked if the Blues don't advance.

Always had a soft spot for the Stars, mostly cause they're one of the few pro-sports teams to embrace green, so tonight was a satisfying win.  What an incredible goal-tending performance by both Rinne and Bishop.  Hope the Stars can continue the momentum into round two.

So, barring a miracle, the Final Four in the west is going to be Colorado, Vegas, Dallas, and St. Louis.

Oof.

That sets up pretty nicely for a Vegas Dallas WCF.

OOF.

My team is out. Drought protocol in effect, so I'm going all-in and pulling for a St. Louis and Columbus/New York final, with the Blues taking the Cup.

I cannot stomach any of the remaining Western teams, not one. May Columbus, Long Island, or Toronto sweep whichever wretched bunch comes out of there.

Knew this before the playoffs even started, but thanks.

I’m seeing a Boston vs Vegas/Dallas final because of course that’s whats gonna happen.

The extreme parity of the playoffs shouldn’t really be surprising — there’s only two first-round series where there was more than a 4-win difference between the teams. In one of those cases, that gap’s because of a historic team, not a bad 8-seed (Tampa Bay); in the other, it’s because the Avalanche were woefully awful at 3-on-3 overtime, which isn’t a thing in the playoffs anyway, not the 1-seed (Calgary) being anything too special.

I really want the Maple Leafs and Hurricanes to advance so we can type "The Blue Jackets, Maple Leafs, Hurricanes, or Islanders will be in the Stanley Cup Final".

If the Bruins win tonight then the Bruins are going to the final, if not winning the cup, because Boston. 100% guarantee.

Honestly, I would give the Capitals the nod against the Bruins, but if they go out tomorrow night while Boston wins tonight, the Bruins are the runaway favorites to win the Cup, no question. There isn't a team out there who I would pick to beat them, all things taken into account.

Not that I have much love towards Toronto and, frankly, if they win the Cup with their core before the Lightning do I'll be very annoyed, but, I was very annoyed at them not getting the job done in front of their fans on Sunday. That was the opportunity they all wanted, right? One win at home sends you through, and they couldn't do it. I know they've won twice in Boston already, so it's not impossible for them, but good luck doing it a third time. Because now you're asking a lot to move on, being in this situation.

Whether I want a Carolina shocker is going to depend entirely on what happens in that series.
