Make Center Ice free for the first year would definitely lure fans back in. I think it is a great idea. As far as the play in games and moving teams to Europe, that's pretty damn stupid. Yes the NHL is the still the biggest hockey league in the World, but if you place teams in Europe, they will not compete with the KHL. If the European players want to come to North America and play, they will. One thing (that is if the league ever takes back off) I would like to see is sudden death overtime. Get rid of the Shootout and keep playing till someone scores (on the same prinicple as the NBA and MLB). There should be no OTL points, nor SOL points in pro sports. To make it easier for the fans to follow just have a W-L-Winning Pct format.

But back in the real world... it's gonna take a lot to get the NHL back on it's feet again... They done screwed the pooch as its put here in Southern Ohio haha.

What about just bringing back ties and using the soccer points model?

Mighty Ducks of Anaheim (CHL - 2018 Orr Cup Champions) Chicago Rivermen (UBA/WBL - 2014, 2015, 2017 Intercontinental Cup Champions)

King's Own Hexham FC (BIP - 2022 Saint's Cup Champions) Portland Explorers (EFL - Elite Bowl XIX Champions) Real San Diego (UPL) Red Bull Seattle (ULL - 2018, 2019, 2020 Gait Cup Champions) Vancouver Huskies (CL)

Why.

The 3 point win/1 point tie model doesn't succeed enough in its ultimate goal of getting teams to play to win in soccer while NHL coaches are too loathe to give up the 1 point they have anyway. Additionally its (comparatively) easy enough to punch a goal through in hockey that settling for ties is rather anti-climatic.

How about not having lockouts every few years and just playing the damn game rather than coming up with stupid gimmicks to try and lure your masochistic fans back.

Because that would make too much sense.

A little-known provision in Olympia Entertainment's lease of city-owned Joe Louis Arena and Cobo Arena
Since its lease expired in 2010, the company hasn't paid millions of dollars for items such as rent, concessions and other revenue and property taxes, according to city documents obtained by The News.
Although the lease expired, the Red Wings have remained and are considered a "holdover tenant" bound by its terms. The outstanding debt is a subject of negotiations for a new lease, city documents show.

1. Detroit owns the arena.

2. The Red Wings' lease ran out in 2010.

3. They have not paid any rent since.

Change the damn locks already. It's amazing the things some people/businesses can get away with. Have the Devils paid any rent on their new arena yet?

Sports Illustrated predicts NHL will expand to Seattle & Quebec City for 2013-14. My god damn head hurts.

How about they relocate dying franchises to those cities before giving one passing thought to expansion?

Yes because expanding a league with several unsustainable teams is the answer.
