WSU151
A 2-minute mockup of what the logo is probably going to look like...'47 Brand's Cooperstown Current Astros hat. Not sure who would owe who if that's the mark.Lids47 Brand can re-color the logos all they want, it doesn't somehow give them ownership of the marks...Good point. Smart is believing half of what you hear. Genius is knowing which half.
oldschoolvikings
Owner Jim Crane has been stating rebranding will be a mix of old & new. And its beginning to sound like we'll see the current "shooting star" cap logo recolored to blue & orange and paired with the 1965-70 uni's Thoughts?!?Not too happy about the uniforms or colors, but if they keep the current star it'll be acceptable. Their current cap logo is the best in the bigs IMO, by a country mile. What a huge mistake it would be to keep the current star. The old H over Star is a classic. http://dstewartpaint.blogspot.com/

Haha, you had me going there. That's exactly what I said. You may not agree, but it conveys exactly what it tries to in an extremely simple design. It's one of my very favorite logos in all of sports actually. Miles better than that H Star clip art garbage most people are hoping for. TheOldRoman
There is literally nothing worth salvaging from the current set. Not a logo, wordmark or single color. The current cursive wordmarks don't fit with the futuristic star theme, as shown in the concept above. A recolored version of the current cap logo could work as part of the star stream above a new wordmark, but the that's about it. The H-star is a MUCH better cap logo, and it actually represents the city, rather than just an abstract star.

But once I saw the wordmark in the old colors I thought it worked a lot better. Having resigned myself to the idea that they're not going to alter the logo or script, I think it's a good compromise. BBTV
That script is so poorly designed and out of theme that there's no salvaging it. Who would hand write a script with "s"s like that? Now maybe some script would work, but certainly not that one. mmejia
Makes too much sense and is too easy BUT these would be perfect. The Astros wore this set two weekends ago in Arlington to play the Rangers. While it doesn't look bad, I think a full rebrand in these colors would look better.

ARTnSocal
Makes too much sense and is too easy BUT these would be perfect. Good grief, that entire uniform set that consisted of the yellow and orange rainbow design were absolutely horrendous. I was so happy years ago when they finally abandoned it.It would be really sad if they ever went back to that kind of look, yikes!!I like the shooting-star look but with a different word-mark than the concepts above. I like many of those concept caps from above tho'.

jigokusabre
The font would need to by re-worked a bit... but this was the best I could put together given my computer's current resources. The stripe harkens back to the rainbow from the 80s era. The hollow star is taken from the 90s/00s teams, and the three tails is inspired from the debut jerseys.I'd love to see someone more professional take this idea and make more with it. mmejia
A few notes from the Astros game last night. Big changes are a comin'..The Astros have removed the Citgo ad (that cheap BoSox knock-off) from above the left field wall and announced that over the next month (mid to late July completion estimate) they will also remove the penants and (((drum roll)))......... the train and train tracks are under consideration for complete removal. Under new ownership, the Astros are clearly moving in a different direction. Tal's Hill and the in-play flag pole will likely be removed, as well. It's not all sunny news, they also announced that the Citgo sign will be replaced by several ads that will occupy a massive space (as in 5 times more space than the Citgo sign) above the left field wall. The penants are going to be re-worked (new colors??) and placed somewhere else in the stadium.
mmejia
Astros to consider removing train from Minute Maid ParkAdd the train high above left field to Tal's Hill on the list of Minute Maid Park quirks potentially on the chopping block.Owner Jim Crane said Wednesday that the club will weigh removing both features before next year when it moves to the American League and rebrands."Those are two things people question me about all the time and those are logical," Crane said. "We're going to do our marketing research. We're going to study it."As part of that rebranding, the Astros have submitted new uniforms to MLB and are awaiting approval. Any changes to uniforms would be revealed after the season. The train, like several of the pennants, which will be moved and colored in the new scheme, could be a casualty of a new set of signs above the Crawford Boxes and Home Run Alley. The 12 ads, which will be inserted in the framework by the end of July, are to recognize sponsors of an initiative to revitalize baseball in poorer areas of Houston. Crane announced the program Wednesday with fields to be finished by spring 2013."Those folks have invested in renovating the city parks and providing a place for underprivileged kids to play for relatively nothing," Crane said. When the remaining signs are sold, the project is expected to raise $18 million for fields and the rest of the initiative, which will provide underprivileged children with tickets to Astros games.
